Services
Our physiotherapists include a 'hands on' approach to treatment and use the above manual therapies to help in the early part of your treatment. As a general rule, once your injury is settling or movement has been restored, we complement your treatment with appropriate exercise prescription. Our physiotherapists are able highly trained in the prescription of the correct exercises to assist in your recovery following injury/surgery.
On a weekly basis, Killarney Vale Physiotherapy utilise Forrester's Beach Indoor Gym to perform supervised gym exercises. This service is accessible to all our patients and as it is a physiotherapy class, health fund rebates apply. Physiotherapy guided gym programs are an ideal way to improve your strength and fitness and will reduce the risk of injury associated with exercises.
Our physiotherapists Patrick Hart and Tom Nowlan both have post-graduate training in the use of dry-needling, a western form of acupuncture. If appropriate, our physiotherapists will use dry needling as an adjunct to your treatment. We have found it to be beneficial in many patients, as it is helpful in treating difficult muscle trigger points that have not improved with our conventional manual treatments.
Lauren ( aka Loz ) is a local girl who has been a part of the KV Physiotherapy team since 2016, graduating from the University of Newcastle with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours). Outside the clinic, Lauren loves to lead a healthy, active lifestyle by bushwalking, downhill skiing and paddle boarding.
On the first session your treating physiotherapist will ask a lot of specific questions in order to gather as much relevant information as possible about your specific problem. They will then do a physical examination usually involving you doing some specific movements and some manual techniques using their hands.
