Mordialloc Martial Arts
Taekwondo offers co-ordination and confidence for children, gets teenagers into an activity and helps. Learn to use the Single stick or Double sticks in the many and varied drills that this popular Filipino martial art has. The history of Mordialloc Martial Arts. Back in 1992 a mad Ninja Turtle fan 8 year old wanted to do martials arts so he could kick like his heroes.

We went along to a session at a recommended club on Beach Rd Parkdale where we were made most welcome. Young Greg got into it straight away. I also had younger son Steve with me who wanted to get up as well but was a little bit shy. I said to Steve " If I get up, will you get up as well?" Steve agreed so the three of us started our martial arts journey on that cold August day in 1992.

Mordialloc Martial Arts has its origins from a balanced approach in what ever we do, and is part of the Nutaofit Martial Arts Academy, i.e. Nu - Nutritional, Tao - Way or path for life, Fit - Physical and mental fitness. Mordialloc Martial Arts was formed in 1995 and is about learning and developing skills in martial arts and can be applied in any part of your daily life.
2022 will see my 30th year in martial arts. A late starter, I commenced in 1992 with my two boys, mainly as support for them but soon grew to love it. Training 6 times a week through the 1990's we each received our Black Belts in 1996. Mordialloc Dojang started in 1998 and I took over running it in 1999 when Parkdale closed down.
Taekwondo offers co-ordination and confidence for children, gets teenagers into an activity and helps the flexibility and fitness of adults. As the premier arts in the world today, students learn how to defend themselves in any situation, learn both hand and foot co-ordination and see at an early stage the benefits of the stretching exercises and kicking drills.
Adult involvement in the martial arts is once again growing. It's either to own that exclusive Black Belt, an honour and achievement in its self or to learn how to defend your self as our country becomes more and more dangerous. At Mordialloc you get both. There is no sport here. From the very first lesson students are given the tools to at least be able to defend themselves straight away.
These classes combine kickboxing, martial arts and self defence. The majority of the time we spend on the kick pads, kick paddles and focus mitts. The flexibility gained through stretching will enable students to do all the fancy kicks as seen on the likes of "Charlies Angels" and "Alias" As the fitness improves (and it will) more involved drills and pad routines will be introduced.

Used to take a family member there for lessons, wouldn’t recommend due to one of the female instructors’ attitude (Linda). Not friendly at all and very opinionated. There are better clubs around.

Having trained in martial arts previously, I was looking for a local club for my children to join. After looking at several clubs I found Mordialloc Martial Arts had a really good kids class and my son really enjoyed his first session. Now over 3 years later my son, daughter and myself are still training and really enjoy the mix of Taekwondo, Forms, Kick Boxing, Self Defense and Weapons. I highly recommend Mordialloc Martial Arts for kids and families.
