Experience rapid relief in just a few sessions with simple, stress busting ACT mindfulness skills. ACT is more scientifically supported than any other current form of CBT - cognitive behavior therapy. Suffering problems with attention and conduct, anxiety, depression, autistic spectrum difficulties or other problems?
ACT stands for Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, a modern form of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). ACT is the most modern and scientifically proven approach to therapy available today. ACT is all about effective, efficient treatment, allowing you to live more fully, quickly.

ACT skills bring us more fully into the here and now, less caught up with difficult thoughts and feelings, more aware of what we really care about, and living by these values more each moment.Accept, choose and take action! ACT is all about learning skills to help us be the kind of people that we want to be.
We can be aware of our internal thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations, and we can be aware of the interaction of ourselves with the external world (sight, sound, touch, taste, feel). We can be aware that we take in sights and sounds, etc. from the external world and process them and apply our internal thoughts and beliefs to them.
That simple insight may strike with a force. It is an insight that initially contains both good news and bad news. The bad news is that the human mind will often turn it into yet another source for blame: "If depression is an action, then I should not be doing it, but apparently I am, so it must be my fault."

My time with Rob has been the most life changing part of my mental health journey thus far. My commitment to the journey is obviously the most important part of managing ones mental health. Rob's expertise along with my commitment are working wonders. Add to this that the team at the Brisbane ACT Centre always help to complete the wonderful process that is. Dr Rob purssey was awful. Treated me as though I was a child - eg. "This is how we feel when we feel anxious" (shows cartoon picture of anxious) "and this is how we feel when we are happy" (shows cartoon picture of happy). I'm 21.
Refused to do the only thing I asked, which was to receive, or work on receiving a diagnosis.
Would not listen when I tried to explain new difficult symptoms I have been having - instead dismissed them and said we all feel anxious sometimes.
Filled up most of the time by putting on YouTube videos and promoting me to buy courses or books which he had a part in writing

I have been seeking Dr. Rob Purssey's help for 3 years; he is always supportive and he introduced me to A.C.T. and its founder Dr. S. Hayes.
Rob Purssey is amazing and I recommend him highly to anyone looking for a qualified psychiatrist and A.C.T. therapist who genuinely cares about good outcomes.
Thank you Dr. Rob

It was a pleasure working alongside Rob and the team as one of the psychologists at the Brisbane ACT Centre. Each practitioner I met was professional, passionate and definitely 'walking the talk'. I would recommend the Brisbane ACT Centre to anyone wanting a fresh, empowering perspective to meet the challenges of their life.

Rob has been a tremendous help to me understanding my triggers, how to reduce my ‘stress load’ when I cannot reduce my workload and giving me extremely practical exercises to refocus so I can be the best person possible. His approach is not to prescribe ‘insert drug here’ but rather an integrative approach to identify and treat the underlying reasons behind my feelings and behaviour. If you really want to actualise your goals, understand yourself and live your best life then he is probably the best person to talk to.

Dr Rob Purssey is already full of knowledge but I love that he is eager to learn more about YOU and despite his speciality in psychiatry he shows an interest in other areas of health that impacts mental health and works holistically with his patients to achieve the best outcome. Rob gives me confidence in myself and my ability to learn skills that will make my life more enriched and meaningful. Rob takes his work seriously but also has a sense of humour. Rob genuinely is passionate about helping others. I highly recommend Dr Rob Purssey and ACT.

Rob was very warm and extremely helpful in managing my depressive disorder. His approach seemed strange at first since he focused on psychotherapy and only prescribed medications when required. I was stuck with several medications which did not help me and Rob assisted me in tapering them off while training on ACT which has been very effective for my recovery journey. I was recommended to Rob by a clinical psychologist and they both saved my life!

I just want to share briefly and say a personal thank you to Rob Purssey of Brisbane ACT center.
Rob helped me immensely a little while back with his skillful way of taking me through an ACT course. I was going through some pretty heavy stuff at the time. I had some medical issues where I had to have some drugs in the course of my treatment which… had a profound and debilitating effect on my health in a whole host of ways (a hammer to fix the problem as it were). One of the side-effects of these drugs for many patients is a huge reduction in serotonin (or maybe the uptake of it? something
