After graduating from the University of Queensland with an Arts degree in Economics and History in 1987, Rob Martin commenced employment as a law/conveyancing clerk with the legal firm Dale & Fallu in Ipswich, Qld.
In 1989 he enrolled in a law degree at the Queensland University of Technology whilst at the same time completing Articles of Clerkship with Bennett Carroll & Gibbons (now Bennett Carroll), one of the largest law firms in Brisbane outside of the CBD.In 2005 Rob Martin established R.D. Martin & Company with the aim of providing legal services specifically tailored to each of his clients' individual needs and circumstances.
