Esthesis Physiotherapy is a boutique physiotherapy practice located in the seaside community of Largs Bay with a focus on Women's Health, founded by Melissa Connell in 2015. Having studied a Post Graduate Certificate in Women's Health and Continence after a Bachelor of Applied Science in Physiotherapy, Melissa is passionate about helping women of all ages achieve optimum health and wellness by providing holistic and up to date physiotherapy services.

Esthesis - meaning 'a sensation of touch' is a physiotherapy practice established in 2015 by Melissa Connell in the lovely seaside community of Largs Bay. Whilst supporting clients with a range of issues, women's health is its specialty.
After graduating from the University of South Australia in 2000 with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy), Melissa went on to work in a number of different Musculoskeletal private practices, in which time she gained extensive experience in treating a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions.

At Esthesis Physiotherapy, we are highly trained to provide quality Physiotherapy assessment and treatment services to the people of Largs Bay and surrounding suburbs. We can treat people of all ages and fitness levels, whether their problem is as a result of injury, illness, surgery or postural dysfunction.
There are many changes that occur to the body during pregnancy, childbirth and in the post natal period. These changes along with the changes that occur during childbirth, can cause stress on the body which may lead to back, hip and pelvic pain and potentially pelvic floor weakness.
Esthesis Physiotherapy acknowledge the physical and emotional toll that pregnancy and childbirth can have on Women and aim to assist women in maintaining a health and active lifestyle and provide appropriate treatment and management if pain or dysfunction arises.We have a specialised pregnancy pillow which allows you to lay on your stomach during treatment throughout your entire pregnancy.

With a Post Graduate qualification in Women's Health and Continence, Esthesis Physiotherapy specialises in treating pelvic floor dysfunction across the life stages. It is astounding that 1 in 3 Australian women experiencing pelvic floor dysfunction.
Pelvic floor issues can greatly impact on quality of life and can arise as a result of pregnancy and childbirth but also can be a result of menopause, constipation, gynaecological surgery, ageing, obesity, inactivity, lifting, chronic coughing, lower back or pelvic pain or postural dysfunction.

Please allow 45min-1hour for your first appointment to ensure a thorough and comprehensive assessment. This enables us to have a complete understanding of your current history and for us to be able to develop the best treatment/exercise plan to help you achieve your goals. If you have private health insurance you can claim at the time of your appointment using the HICAPS machine and then you will only have to pay the gap.
