The addictions appearing below relate to some of the issues commonly presented by clients. The list of conditions is not exhaustive and is not intended to imply specialisation on the part of our therapists. Not all of our therapists have dealt with people suffering from each condition referred to in the list.
Alcohol use difficulties generally involve repeated patterns of excessive alcohol consumption that lead to impairments in the ability to carry out daily activities, and disturbed cognitive function when intoxicated. Consumption can have various effects on your emotions, including the alleviation of anxiety and, at times, a deterioration in mood.
Cannabis is one of the most popular illicit drugs in Australia. Individuals often report using cannabis to help them cope with poor sleep, physical pain or mental health difficulties. Unfortunately, cannabis use often exacerbates underlying mood and psychological problems. The impact of cannabis may lead to reduced motivation, thus making life's demands more challenging to fulfil.
It may sound fun, but chocolate addiction can be serious. Uncontrolled consumption of anything is bound to have negative consequences eventually. People become reliant on chocolate for different reasons. The heart of the struggle with chocolate addiction is the conflict between knowing you should stop and, at the same time, craving the sweet rush it gives you.
If you are wanting to stop, it's important to know recovery is possible. Cocaine is a stimulant which increases the speed of message transmission in the brain. It tends to trigger a state of euphoria, intense energy, heightened sensitivity and intermittent reduction in appetite and the need for sleep.

Carolina has been very supportive and helpful as well as compassionate during our sessions and has offered several techniques that immediately improved my quality of life. I’m glad for having reached out to her. I would definitely recommend trying Bayside Psychotherapy if you’re looking to talk with someone about a difficulty you’re facing.
