I am now a regular customer of the Goat House after many wonderful evenings and experiences there. The service was incredible with such friendly and hardworking staff that were able to cater for my food requirement (gluten free). it’s great for both large gatherings of people as well as smaller groups. overall just great atmosphere and brilliant food. would recommend 100%

Had the nicest meal and drink at the Goat House. It was a busy night but the staff were still attentive and friendly. There was live music and the atmosphere was incredible. Food was well priced for such wonderful meal and the owner greeted us at the door and ensured we had the best experience possible. Definitely coming again and would recommend!

I bought a fresh juice and coffee totalling $15 on a quiet Monday afternoon around 4pm with no other patrons in the building. The service staff were lovely. I was minding my own business, using my own wifi and writing some notes on my laptop. The weird manager was watching me from behind the bar and sent out his staff to tell me that no food… clients could only stay for half an hour maximum. His rationale was that office work should be done from the office. He was strange and obviously had some issue with a quiet female patron doing some work. He was not Australian and seemed to have trouble

A comfortable environment with great service and food and coffee. The Pancake Stack from the all day breakfast menu was a delightful surprise; I expected it to be quite sweet, but it wasn't, and that's a good thing, for me. Light and just enough for a warm summer's day. A popular meeting place for coffee and chats, it's very handy to the Elsternwick Station and also the number 67 tram stop next door. I always visit when shopping further up Glenhuntly Road.

The food was fabulous. The location great, but like everyone else, the service is just appalling. No "hello", no "thank you" no warmth, just angry staff everywhere and absolutely none of them smiling. If the comments about the owner are anything to go by then it probably explains why the staff are so terrible.

Nice decor but terrible acoustics which makes conversation difficult. Food is ok but overpriced for the small portions served and you'll definitely not take home a doggy bag.
Staff are nice enough but refused serving us coffee at 8pm after we finished our meal.
NO BYO. Toilet reasonably clean.
We ended up at the nearby McDonald's for more to eat lol.

It was the first Saturday street lockdown restrictions were eased a bit so I wanted a restaurant with lots of space. I didn’t want to be bunched at the door. We got a nice table near the fire out the back and settled in for a nice meal. I had the Eggs Benedict (two poached eggs on southern style slow cooked pork shoulder with spinach, crusty ciabatta and béarnaise) which was totally delicious. Highly recommend this place if price isn’t your highest priority.

Today we had a run in with Goat House owner/manager after his staff made two mistakes with our order. They took our order and forgot to put it in for 30 minutes and then one order was made incorrectly by the kitchen as we had asked for two items to be left out and they weren't, even though they were entered correctly by the staff. So we cancelled this incorrect order. The staff asked him if he would give us the 2 teas for free to say sorry but he didn't care that they had made mistakes, didn't want to give any compensation for 2 errors and then went on to swear at me and saying

This restaurant has a couple of pros and cons...
Great location, easy to get to by transport (train and tram). Lovely ambience.
Service was a bit hit and miss during dinner - one rude waitress, but also two other lovely ones.
The meals were beautifully presented.
Whilst my (gluten free) lamb meal tasted OK, there was a bit too much meat for one meal. Would be better if meat quantity was less and this was reflected in the price of the meal too.
I can’t comment on any other meals or sides.

Great service and great food; the calamari gets my recommendation. The service and food quality is always consistent, and it is Elsternwich which is a great neighbourhood. If you fancy a good pint of lager, try the goat. Seating options include inside and outside. I strongly recommend this restaurant.

My friend and I ordered wedges, they never came, twenty minutes later we asked the waiter were they were. She left and never came back. We asked another waiter - another twenty minutes later she brought them - cold and clearly forgotten with NO apology. We were about to leave when they came and we were starving. I enquired wether we should get a discount for poor service to the waiter - the OWNER/MANAGER came out and started YELLING AT US! "How dare we ask for a discount" - WE PAID THE FULL AMOUNT AND LEFT!!! We left!!! The manager ran after us outside with another man and started yelling

The worst cafe experience we have had in ages. Forgot our coffee and kids milk shake order. Then over an hour after we ordered and when our kids aged 2 and 7 were losing the will to live, we were told that our food would be another 15 minutes, aka we forgot to cook it.
Said we were leaving to find alternative food for our very hungry young children and all the waitress had to say was that she had not eaten either and had been on her feet all night the evening before doing a function. I'm sorry love but it's your job, I've done this job in the past and it's not hard to offer

As soon as i stepped into the Goat House I had that warm welcoming feeling, style of cafe is beautiful, service is great always got a few waiters asking if I've been served.
The baristas there know quite a lot about the coffee beans, and are so helpful and fast service, not to mention the lattes and hot chocolates! Goat House has always been a stop on the way to work.

Sure, this place could use some improvement, but it's all around a nice place to go. If you're looking for the best dinner on lackluster Glen Huntly, don't expect to find it here. But it's a wonderful place to just get some coffee with friends or a quick bite to eat before a movie at the Classic. The best is sitting on their new patio on a warm day drinking a beer and eating some of their delicious fries.

Removed from the conjecture; I actually had warm feelings
about this place upon passing. In and around the immediate area, there really isn't
much else aside from Milky's. Yes it's true Gelenhuntly road is all so same-y
and un changing, but hopefully this will prove a catalyst to engage change in most
of the dull and dour non descript cafe's of the area.
For Goat house itself, it has an odd but appealing name, and it's good to see
that great quality coffee isn't confined to the inner city suburbs and cbd. Food isn't
cheap, but I should go back to try more of

I have always avoided eating at this place. I normally follow my nose when I make decisions on where to eat but today I did not. The Goat House has a lot of positive aspects for example it is set in beautiful surrounds with a nice park to look at out the window, the interior design is very modern and you can see that it is a place to visit on a number of occasions whether it be breakfast, lunch, diner, a function or just to have a drink at the bar. Unfortunately these positive aspects can be overlooked by the little things that can be easily fixed. I have herd of a few examples but with my experience
