Recently stayed at the highlander hotel, the bistro itself was lovely and the meal we had was as well. I ordered the chicken schnitzel with creamy sauce and was happy with the results. The service was extremely quick for how busy it was as well. The room side of things were a little different, the room and bed itself was nice, comfortable, but the location was a bit noisy at night and the bathroom door had to be closed at all times while showering to prevent the alarm from going off...and if it did the call out fee was addressed to you at the expense of $400 lol. The one star rating has nothing to do with service nor performance, I just wanted to suggest upgrading this place into a hotel several levels up just like what they have done with the Marion hotel down south!! If you were to upgrade it into a hotel just imagine the views you'd be cashing in on!! You're already at an advantage more so then the Marion currently is in, as you are positioned on top of the hill and by adding extra storeys you'd get great uninterrupted views towards the city centre and hills!!! Just imagine?? Better show this to the owners who run that joint, and get them keen on this

Honestly the only reason Iām giving 2 stars is because the beer š» was cold and company I was with was good the food on the other hand not the best chicken schnitzel decent size but for $23 and what I was served yeah nah mushroom gravy served in a cardboard cup dressing on top of the salad in a sachet and the bread rolls came out no side plate to put it on or cutlery to put butter on the roll š³the staff not overly friendly didnāt seem like they wanted to be there. place has so much potential but not with food served up like this

Itās a cheap but nice looking hotel. Weāve eaten there a few times and the food is good. The staff are inflexible if you have problems; the room was booked in my partnerās name so I had to sit outside for 2 hours until she arrived. Iāve never had that happen before. Also the beds are too firm for my liking and I kept on waking up every couple of hours

Overall was great, service was great and very patient, everything we ordered was beautiful, a couple dishes could of been better on the charcoal plates instead but that's only being picky. The garlic bread was the tiniest bit lacking garlic but tasted beautiful anyway. The renovations are being upheld even though it's been a few years everythings still clean and looking good.. keep up the great work and congratulations.. :)

Thursday lunch saw us at the Highlander Hotel. It was reasonably quiet there but the dining room is stylish and the atmosphere was very pleasant. The service we received was excellent.
However what really surprised us was the quality of the food and the size of the servings that we received. The food we received for our lunch was absolutely outstanding. The meals were cooked to perfection, the steak and the pork was very tender, the fish was tasty, the roast potatoes and the chips were crunchy and delicious and we could not have been any happier!
