Dancing is a fantastic way to help your children become social, confident, active and engaged while developing their motor skills. At The Sharon Lawrence Academy of Dance, we're proud to be a family owned and operated business, offering professional and high quality training for children aged from 2.5 years old.
We offer children's dance classes for beginner, intermediate and advanced standard dancing in all genres and all skill levels. Past students have worked in professional shows such as: Oliver, Annie, Mary Poppins, Fame, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Boy From Oz, We Will Rock You, Rock of Ages, The Tap Pack, Cats, Wicked, Singing in the Rain, Gypsy, Matilda, The King and I, Aladdin and many more.

Services
Principal, Sharon Lawrence enjoyed a professional career in Musical Theatre before realising her true passion was to teach. Sharon has over 36 years experience teaching students who have got their start at SLD. Successful students have gone on to work professionally here and overseas and many ex students working in the industry, come back to the studio to pass their knowledge on to the new generation of SLD students.
Ballet is the foundation of all dance styles, it is a great way for students to build technique, correcting posture and obtaining strength to enhance all forms of dance styles. Examinations are offered, they are not compulsory, although students wishing to sit examinations are encouraged to attend two ballet classes a week.

My daughters have been dancing at Sharon Lawrence Academy of Dance (SLD) for almost 11 years. Such a wonderful time has been so far in my kids life, not just fantastic dance school but it’s also another family. Amazing and dedicated teachers, not just teach my kids about dancing but also guide them to become The best they can be as a person and a dancer. I’m very proud to have my kids at SLD and highly recommend anyone to LSD.

There is so much to love about this Dance School. My kids have been dancing here for almost 9 years and have loved every day of class
The faculty are deeply invested in moulding the kids to be the best they can be and shaping them to enter the industry in the Performing Arts World.
Through their training at the school they have had the opportunity to travel around the world and showcase their talent.
Great Location & really nice studio spaces with a variety of classes.
If you are a seasoned dancer or a beginner there are classes for all.

This is my 11th Year dancing at SLD, and each year has been so much fun!
Every single teacher is amazing and i feel privileged to have them every week. I have learnt everything i know about dance from Miss Sharon and this school! It is also a very friendly and fun environment! All round great school

After dancing at Sharon Lawrence when I was younger, I knew I always wanted my children to dance with her. Sharon is an amazing teacher who knows how to get the very best out of every student, no matter their talents.
I feel Sharon helped shape me into the strong willed, resilient, dedicated and passionate person I am now as an adult. The experiences, opportunities and friendships that were created in my dancing years, have stayed with me and still warm my heart to this day.

My 2 daughters have both trained at SLD. The school is big enough to provide quality performance opportunities for the children but small enough to provide a friendly family environment where Sharon takes the time to get know each student to develop and encourage the children’s individual talents and skills. The highly skilled dedicated teachers will bring out the best in every student. Very proud to be associated with such a high quality dance school.

I have danced almost 11 years at this dance school and it is extraordinary! Not only is the staff and training amazing, but it’s such a friendly environment for everyone and my friends are the most amazing people I have ever met!! I remember being a little kid starting and now I’m getting into programs and experiencing things I’d never thought was possible!! This is currently my 14th year dancing at SLD. Over the years I have been offered so many amazing opportunities that I would never have been able to experience anywhere else. The teachers are incredible and I learn so much everyday from their wisdom and amazing talent. I would never be where I am today if it wasn’t for Miss Sharon and I am so beyond great full for the hard work she puts into her studio and students.

My daughter has been dancing at this school for the past 11 years, and she's enjoyed every single moment of it. She has had the opportunity to learn dance skills of all different genres from very talented teachers. The school also offers a great VCE dance program which she was able to complete and achieve a high score. The end of year concert is of professional standard and the students and teachers work very hard together to achieve this result. The students of this school not only learn dancing, but they also learn various other life skills such as discipline, hard work, commitment, and perseverance
