Located 148km south-west of Melbourne, Colac is the Gateway to the Otways and is central to the Great Ocean Road, Geelong, Ballarat and Warrnambool. Otway Gate Motel Colac is the first motel on the left as you enter Colac from Melbourne/Geelong. If coming from Warrnambool/Camperdown travel through the main shopping centre, cross the bridge and we are 500m on the right hand side.
All rooms have their own en suite with individual hot water service and hair dryer, and are equipped with tea/coffee making facilities, toaster, microwave, 32-inch LCD TV, free Foxtel, DVD player, direct dial phone, wireless internet, aircon/heating, electric blankets, iron/ironing board. Spotless room – a pleasure to walk into.
Smelt fresh (no residual cigarette smoke). This is VERY important to me.

The Otway Gate Motel is extremely clean and the staff are friendly and welcoming.
The rooms are immaculate and the shower heads are amazing with full glass enclosures, rather than curtains.
Their breakfast is delicious, though I've really only had the poached eggs.
The only down side is, they don't have Smart TVs.
Otherwise, Highly Recommended!

The room was modern and appealing and the owner very helpful (great that the office is open till 9.30, as many close earlier). The efficient heating and electric blanket were much appreciated. The hot water could have been a tad hotter. While the setup is very aesthetic, it is not super practical, as the microwave (in my room) was on the bottom shelf of a closed cupboard and the fridge is in a closed cupboard and was a bit difficult to access it all the time. The motel is on the main road, but the traffic noise mostly ceases overnight. The motel is not easy to find as there is little external lighting

You will find Otway on the main road of Colac, which means it can be quite noisey early hours of the morning. I enjoyed staying here because the beds are comfortable and the bathrooms are newly renovated with a huge powerful shower head which stayed hot. There isnt much parking and this place does book out so insure you book ahead, The staff are very friendly and accomodating and the towels and linen were really good quality. We received bathroom condiments but no milk, coffee, or tea. The television didnt have much chanels to watch but the location was great as it is close to everything.

П WOW 🤩 WOW 🤩 WOW 🤩 Very inpressed !! Just been fully renovated & is fresh & spotless, we checked the room before we stayed & when they opened the door , I immediately said yes we’ll take it !! The new owners have really picked this place right up to a beautiful affordable motel. Friendly helpful staff. What a position 30 seconds drives to the heart of the city shops, great town, heaps of shops, restaurants etc, plenty to do. They have a fridge in the front office full of cold drinks $2 !! The breakfast was great & cheap. I would definitely recommend this motel 🏨 to stay in. We

The most genuine and down to earth owners you will ever meet. Amazing people. This place is clean, quiet, and in an amazing location.
Very understanding and cyclist friendly. Multiple 3.5amp USB sockets, and an extremely modern room. I look forward to returning next time I'm in Victoria. Perfect base for the beechy rail trail.
