Services
Jow Ga Kuen Martial Arts Association is Melbourne's first traditional Jow Ga Kung Fu school. It was established by Sifu Tseng Gong Seng in 1987, under the name Melbourne Yun Yee Tong Martial Arts Association. The Association is still the first and only Kung Fu school in Melbourne teaching traditional Jow Ga Kung Fu.
Jow Ga is a traditional Shaolin style. It differs from other Kung Fu styles in that there is equal emphasis on developing hand and upper body techniques as on lower body and kicking techniques. Jow Ga is an authentic, well-established Chinese Martial Arts system widely practised all over the world with its origins in the legendary Shaolin temples of Ancient China.
Our Jow Ga linage has extensive range of weapons and hand forms. Our curriculum is designed to help students develop the skills they need to become proficient and better in learning Jow Ga Kung Fu. The basic structure of the class as of the start of our commencing lessons was consisted of a warm up and stretching, stance training, drills and conditioning, forms, techniques, applications.
Primary forms in our curriculum include Wooden Post Fist, Big Tiger, Country Fist and Tiger Leopard Fist. These are the next empty hand forms after the core forms. Each form has its own character, unique techniques, applications and drills. It solely focuses on building the foundation for learning from the intermediate to instructors level.
Jow Ga's secondary forms consist of six forms which includes; Small Four Level Fist, Four Level Fist, Monkey Fist, Lohan Fist, Tiger Crane and 5 Animals Fist. Each form has its own distinctive techniques, pace, applications, drills and conditioning exercises. A beginners form which is one of the shortest Jow Ga form in our curriculum, which a condensed version of techniques from Small Tiger and Four Level fist.
