The Great Western Tiers provides a wide range of walking opportunities for guests. Walk from the door into pristine rainforest during a 2 hour walk from the Lodge or drive to the base of the Tiers and ascend into the alpine wilderness areas on top. There are walks for children, octogenarians and adventure seekers.
Two of Tasmania's most visited waterfalls are close by, Meander Falls and Liffey Falls. An underground wonderland awaits the more adventurous. The western end of the Tiers contains an elaborate system of limestone caves and underground streams. Tours are available. The streams in the valley of Jackeys Marsh contain brown trout and plenty of opportunity for experienced fishermen and women to try their skills.

Services
Forest Walks Lodge near Deloraine in northern Tasmania was built by husband and wife partnership Sean Cadman and Rosemary Norwood. It is situated on the Great Western Tiers in northern Tasmania to showcase some of the most diverse forested environments in Tasmania. The provision of comfortable guesthouse accommodation close to nature provides guests a genuine Tasmanian nature and wildlife experience.
Our meals are hand prepared for our guests every evening with fresh organic vegetables straight from the garden and locally sourced meat, fish, cheese and eggs. We preserve fruit in season for deserts, thus ensuring full flavour. We have access to local venison, organic lamb, free range pork, fresh wasabi and truffles in season.
At Tasmania's Forest Walks Lodge there's no television, but who needs it with this cinematic view? In every direction there's bush, mountains and hills. Step from the property and you're almost immediately into World Heritage-listed forest. One of northern Tasmania's most prominent mountains, Quamby Bluff, rises behind the lodge, and through the windows there's a western - the craggy line of the Great Western Tiers - that plays every day.
Spacious comfortable bedroom with queen bed and ensuite bathroom with both a bath and a shower. This room is more private being located at the end of the building and looks north to the forests on Quamby Bluff as well as south to the mountains. The room features an external screened patio alongside a small creek with an outdoor table and chairs accessed from the room through french doors.
A comprehensive breakfast with hot and cold dishes is included in the tariff and you can book for dinner from the extras menu when you book your accommodation. Queen bed, extra single if required, quality bed linen, chairs, bath, shower over bath, hand made soap, shampoo, large towels and face cloth.

I stayed there last week after finding the place through Tasmania travel coupons as I was looking for a place fairly close to the Cradle Mountain. I have to say that I really liked the location and the lodge itself. The dinner and breakfast provided by Sean and Rosemarie was some of the best food I had in Tasmania and would definitely recommend it to anyone staying there. Overall 10/10 experience for me.

The setting is so tranquil at Forest Walks Lodge, the beautiful valley surrounded by all the mountains. Rosemary and Sean were wonderful hosts. Our meals were amazing. We gave up on going out for dinner after savouring Sean and Rosemary’s restaurant quality cuisine. Lovely fresh bread, duck eggs and jams in the morning. We stayed in the end room and found it quite large and quiet. Sean and Rosemary were gracious to let us bring our little Romey. He was in heaven smelling all the wildlife that game out in the evenings. I highly recommend Forest Walks Lodge as a tranquil place to stay - located

We found Forest Walks Lodge because it was dog friendly. Not having stayed there before we were unsure what to expect. We were made very welcome, as was our dog Nelly. This beautiful valley is so picturesque with its vivid green pastures and the stunning mountains as a back drop. We wanted for nothing whilst there, our room was perfect and very comfortable and Sean and Rosemary were the best hosts. As for our meals, well all I can say is that they were amazing, restaurant quality and so very delicious. Thank you again - we will most definitely be back.

I loved that we visited in winter... so very cosy.. we recovered from life with an absolutely sumptuous dinner every night and it was great filling up on lots of home made bread toasted with breakfast each morning.. great coffee and country pots of tea on arrival. A great Country feel all round. Did not really miss tv.

Arriving into this remote valley surrounded by stunning mountains, my expectations were high. I had heard about the Forest Walks Lodge from friends - a high-end off the grid retreat with fabulous scenery. My expectations were met! A warm and inviting lodge with delicious food, friendly and informative hosts, comfy beds and scenery galore. Yes, I’ll be back.

Most beautiful valley and stunning view of mountains from our
window. Comfortable and cosy. Great sleeping in the dark and quiet, and a good place to admire the stars at night. Lovely hosts made us welcome and cooked a delicious breakfast and dinner. We wished we could have stayed longer to enjoy more walking in this special area.

Stayed for 2 nights with another couple/friends - fantastic stay in lovely accommodation. The forest tour we went on with Sean was a wonderful experience. As an ecologist, he is very knowledgeable about the environment he lives in, and obviously loves. Dinners were delicious - as a chef Sean served us outstanding dinners. Both Sean and Rosemary were very welcoming and friendly, and happy to make you feel part of their environment. Hope to come back and stay again one day.
