Services
Psychology is a career change for me after serving for about 24 years in the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) as a paramedic (ambo and even stretcher bearer) in a variety of locations in South East Queensland. While with the QAS I gained an Associate Diploma in Applied Science (Ambulance) and a Bachelor of Health Science (Paramedic).

At present, clients referred with a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) will be Bulk Billed, and will continue to be Bulk Billed for the duration of the referral. Eligibility for this scheme is based on the diagnosis given by your GP and is not income tested. Most common disorders are eligible. These include anxiety, depression, panic attacks, sleep problems and adjustment disorders but it does not include marriage counseling.

Barry is very competent, professional Psychologist, who displays understanding and empathy. Barry has provided me with strategies to cope and sound advice when I have needed counseling. His unwavering support and advice has given me the strength to cope, and to have little hope when there has been feelings of dispair and hopelessness. Barry is an excellent Psychologist I highly recommend him, when I went there I was totally broken after a series of horrible events in my life and I honestly had no hope to feel better. Barry is a kind, professional, and passionate person with a great desire to help

I went a year ago and it's put me off finding help again for this entire time. I've seen a lot of professionals for my CPTSD, anxiety and depression. I barely got 2 minutes in before he started talking over the top of me and telling me I "just needed to stop thinking so much". He initiated a hypnosis-like session without my consent or warning, which I find very distressing. Told him I had been keeping a diary to process my trauma and he scolded me for it, despite it being a recommendation from several fantastic people I'd seen over the years. Reverse Psychology is definitely a fitting name. Everything

Went a few years back, didn't get any benefit so I left. As others have said, wasted time showing me videos and got annoyed if you deviated him his prepared speal. (It was on topic) Spoke a lot about himself which in some cases isn't a bad thing but as I said before I didn't end up getting any benefit in the end.

I went and saw Barry twice (mental health plan through government) and both times he spoke about himself and didnt ask me anything about myself really. He played a video for half my session. On my third visit i called to reschedule because i was sick and he told me if i wanted to come back that i would have to pay 125!!!!! I am not working and cannot afford that. This man is all about money

I saw Barry 5 years ago when I was 16, I was recommended when it came to light that I was suicidal with numerous plans. I barely spoke in our sessions, not due to anxiety but purely because I never had a chance. He never asked me anything. Never got to know me. He told me how to deal with my depression without knowing a single thing about what was going on or how my mind worked. 6 weeks in he said he didn't think I needed to come back. I've been to 3 other Psychologists and 2 psychiatrist since then and none were as hopeless as him.
