Learn to defend yourself and build your reflexes, boost your confidence, get fitter and experience an open style of training. For ages from 8 years up and from novice to experienced. Our focus is on outcomes, not our incomes.

Services
Welcome to the Natural Empty Hand Art where strength, size & age are not limiting factors. Jinen Karate Jitsu ingrains principles to build reflexes for life, exploiting natural actions and reactions to affect techniques including striking and kicking, locks, throws, grappling, self & weapons defense, pressure point and restraint strategies, pinching, choking and escapes.
Forget the hype about grades and titles, check the years of training and research carefully. You'll find plenty of information showing the difference between those who have done the work and the others. Instructor Kym Reid's background begins with 18 years of contact karate based on the 1st karate style in Australia.
My first introduction to martial arts was in 1970 experimenting with techniques from "Bruce Tegner's Complete Book of Self-Defence" and TV's "Championship wrestling". At the time I was spending weekends at the Salisbury Colt Breakers when I decided to join the karate club nearby. In 1972 I joined the "Rob Dobson Karate" club in Salisbury which focused on full contact.
Continuous training is needed to advance and maintain a standard. We have very few blackbelts, especially with higher ranks. The instructors below are recognized as having the skills to teach our syllabus and the principles applied within Jinen Karate Jitsu. They have given years of service and set high standards in skills and character and are great role models.
Founder of Shindo Jinen Ryu Karate Jutsu. Graded Wally Szlagowski in 1961 to Shodan after years of study under a student and by correspondence. Konishi was open to interacting with other martial artists and began martial arts in Takenouchi Jujutsu, known for strong kicks and punches. In 1936 he became chairman of the Dai Nippon Butokukai.

Jinen Karate Jitsu has its roots in the first karate club in Australia, not many places can lay claim to that.
Karate Jitsu combines Karate with the fine art of Ju Jitsu. It's somewhat of a tricky art, and the instructor Sensei Kym has a million and one tricks up his sleeve. Just when you think you've seen everything, he quickly shows you that there's a lot more to learn.
The classes go for two hours and the workout can get intense. Sensei Kym believes that any less than two hours isn't long enough. You need a good half an hour to warm up, then explore your techniques and
