Services
Katoomba Veterinary Hospital came into existance in 1977 and has been situated at its current location of 59 Waratah street for over 30 years. During this period it has provided veterinary services to the upper Blue Mountains communities including Leura, Katoomba and Medlow bath. Currently the clinic is owned and run by locals Nina and Rhys Sweaney, Merin Foran and Michele Plessnitzer.
Katoomba Vet Hospital is a well-established, full service, small animal veterinary hospital providing comprehensive medical, surgical and dental care. The facility includes a well stocked pharmacy, extensive laboratory, surgical suite, digital radiology capabilities, an up to date ultrasound machine and a well supervised hospital which includes thermostatically controlled heated enclosures for small animals.
Nina first started working at Katoomba Veterinary Hospital in 2005. She graduated from Sydney University in 1999 and has worked as a general practitioner, here and abroad, ever since. Her work in England has fostered an enthusiasm for rabbits and pocket pets, in addition to her interest in general surgery.
To allow ample time for all patients and scheduled surgical procedures, we operate primarily by appointment. Emergency cases shall always receive top priority, which is why occasional appointment delay is inevitable. Please realise that we make a sincere attempt to see each client on time. For your convenience, 'drop-off' appointments are available.
To enable the allocation of sufficient time for all patients, we operate via an appointment system. Outside these times or if an appointment is not available you may make use of our drop off service. This allows you to bring in your pet at a time which works best for you and leave him/her with us until such time as a veterinarian has the oppurtunity to conduct an examination.

Found a sick female King Parrot in my yard. After speaking with WIRES, took the parrot to the Vet. Unfortunately, the parrot passed away. ๐ข
The male parrot, waited a day, but haven't seen him back.
The staff were amazing. If the female had survived, they were going to return her back to my property, for release & hopefully get back to her partner. ๐ฅ

The vets themselves are lovely, and they do good work, but making an appointment is always a pain. The first receptionist booked an appointment for me, and I got called later that day saying they don't do that type of appointment on that particular day, and the only available appointment was a month later. Booked a follow up appointment, was given written confirmation of said appointment. I call the day before and get told that no such appointment exists, and we'll have to wait 2 months.
