Having affiliated with the SAGA, membership numbered 115, 95 males, 13 ladies and 7 juniors. 33 players teed up on opening day. Mrs R. Boswell, wife of the Director of the WRE, hit the first ball to open the Club. We celebrated the golden anniversary of the official opening of the course. The Governor of South Australia, His Excellency Rear Admiral Kevin Scarce, attended to re-enact the hitting of the first ball.
We sport the best practice facilities in the Adelaide Northern Area. Before play, you can work on any part of your game that is giving you problems. Our Driving Range features targets that will dial in all your clubs for maximum accuracy or simply take on your mates and see who gets the bragging rights.
The course is 9 holes with 18 alternate tees, championship length at 5793 metres and par 72. It is fully watered and manicured, with tree lined lush kikuyu grassed fairways, excellent bent greens and creative bunkering. A driving range and practice chipping, putting and bunker play complex is also available.
A testing par 5 to open your round, with the green approached via a dog-leg to the left. If you are feeling brave (or foolhardy!) and can hit your driver dead straight then it is possible to reach the green in two with two of the best shots you can muster.
For the mere mortals, however, with trees lining the fairway on both sides and out of bounds to the left, the sensible play is to select the longest club in your bag that you can hit straight and play safely to the right side of the fairway to give you the best view of the green.Make sure of the yardage with your approach, avoiding the bunker guarding the green front left.

A dog-leg right off the tee, this short par four is another hole where common sense and careful club selection are rewarded. A small tree in the landing area characterises this hole so knowing exactly how far you hit each club in your bag is crucial. Don't get greedy, as down the left-hand side trees and out of bounds await for those who overdo it.
