Lia is a Psychologist who has worked in private practice for more than seven years. Before starting Swan Psychology she gained familiarity in many areas including child protection, employee assistance programs, supporting family carers, and drug and alcohol counselling.
Lia completed her Honours degree in psychology at Murdoch University, and then a Master of Psychology at Edith Cowan University. Lia works in a holistic fashion with all of her clients, using various approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution-focussed Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Mindfulness.

We assess and diagnose clients for a range of mental illnesses and disorders in order to support and plan treatment and management for those issues. Psychological disorders: Depression, anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder, panic disorder, sleep disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, eating disorders, personality disorders, post-natal depression, phobias, substance misuse and addiction.
You do not need a referral to see a Psychologist, anyone can make an appointment at any time. However, a Mental Health Care Plan referral is required if you wish to claim a rebate through Medicare. Swan Psychology is registered with Medicare and the Medicare Benefits Scheme provides a substantial rebate for each session if you have a Mental Health Care Plan referral.
A Psychologist is someone who has completed an extensive undergraduate, postgraduate academic and practical study in the field of human behaviour. Psychological work focuses on how to help people change the way they think, feel and behave in order to enhance their lives and relationships, and reduce distress.
