Richard & Sally's story. Richard Nagel was born in Sydney. He then grew up in the Queensland outback on his family's 70,000 acre sheep and cattle property, Charlotte Plains, near Cunnamulla where he worked for 10 years after finishing school. Richard met Sally whilst she was travelling around Australia in 1986.

They were married in Oxfordshire, England in 1987 and have two children, Benjamin (30) and Jessica (28). The Nagel family moved to the Mudgee district 26 years ago and now own Old Bara, a picturesque 1100 acre cattle property between Mudgee and Lue. As well as being a farmer, Richard is also a very skilled carpenter and sculptor, he produces unique garden sculptures made from recycling metal, mainly old machinery parts.

A great family holiday in a beautiful location with excellent amenities & great hosts. Looking forward to coming back after this dreadful drought is over. We stay positive that it will be over sooner rather than later. This is beautiful country. The glow of the morning sun over the hills & the stars at night are sights that will remain with us.

Really lovely location, stay, and hosts. The road is dirt but our 2WD sedan had no problems, don't let that put you off at all.

Very peaceful spot for some simple pleasures in life. Think carefully before booking if you would prefer to be near town, it's not. The road to the property is unsealed so this is something to consider if you are hiring a car. It was very dry when we visited but I noticed there are some parts that cross creaks that have yardsticks so presumably duein rain water floods across the road. The house was very cold (during August) flipside is you can build a nice wood fire indoors !
