Kew Foot Clinic is a 20 year old business based in Kew. The podiatrists at the Kew Foot Clinic are dedicated to providing the highest quality of foot care to patients. We look after patients of all ages from the very young with tiny feet through to the elderly with worn out feet.
Our podiatric services range from providing general foot care (cutting toe nails and removing corns and callouses) through to more specialised biomechanical care of the feet and lower limbs and the use of orthotics. We not only have the training and experience to be able to prescribe orthotics but we see orthotics as an art form.

Narelle has over 20 years experience in private practice, having owned 3 clinics over this time as well as working for other leading Podiatrists around Melbourne. Narelle has a keen interest in children's foot problems and lower limb alignment issues. Her focus at the Kew Foot Clinic is to educate her patients in how to avoid developing biomechanical problems in their feet, lower limbs and back.
When you feet hurt, you hurt all over "you can see the pain in ones' face" because your feet are the base of your entire bone structure. Every step you take, three times your body weight goes through your forefoot and when running ten times your body weight goes through your forefoot. Foot problems can cause pain in your knees and back and lead to overall discomfort when standing or walking.
Orthotics are supportive and corrective devices designed to apply direct forces to specific aspects of the foot to improve foot function. They also can change postural stability (pelvic tilt), decrease certain tissue stresses and improve foot and lower limb function. They do this by realigning the tracking of muscles and tendons into particular joints and decreasing the stress.
Majority of the above conditions are caused by the foot being out of alignment and not functioning correctly. Trauma can also be a contributing factor along with some medical pathology such as osteoporosis or as in the case of warts, a virus is present. Even a common corn or callous can be caused by the foot being out of alignment.
Wear moisture wicking socks (Available from sports shoes stores and Outdoor Adventure type stores). Orthotics help maintain the foot in a functionally neutral position so that the arch is not collapsing. The foot can pronate or collapse as the muscles fatigue especially in runners who run many kilometres.

Amazing care during this challenging Covid time, advice given via phone consultation for my daughters toe, though it was necessary to attend the clinic when the problem persisted. We felt safe with all guidelines strictly adhered to. My daughter is again walking pain free, many thanks to Narelle and the Kew foot clinic.
