Just north of Launceston, the Riverside Hotel Motel sits on the West Tamar Highway and has been providing delicious food for years. We're an ideal meeting point for families and friends alike. Head to our Bistro with a menu that reflects our local surroundings and producers on our lone island. We have something for everyone, including fresh seafood, steaks, pastas, salads and all the pub classics you know and love.
We have a dedicated menu for our youngest guests to keep everyone happy, plus a delicious and affordable seniors menu. Our Sports Bar is one the best places to sip a brew and relax in one of our lounges, with sport broadcasting across a number of large TV screens so that you never miss a mark, a goal, a wicket or anything else.

Services
Our Bistro provides a family friendly environment specialising in delicious food and quality service. Open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, our team are passionate about food and providing high quality dishes guaranteed to impress every time. We believe in sourcing locally and sustainably. Our menu has something for everyone, including fresh seafood, steaks, pastas, salads and all the pub classics you know and love.
We pride ourselves on having something for everyone, with a huge range of wine available hailing from premium Tasmanian producers to Australian and imported international drops. We wouldn't be your local without a huge range of beer on tap either, so take a look at the selection we've got and toast with your mates.
Just 4.7 kms from Launceston's city centre, we're within close proximity to must-see attractions such as the Cataract Gorge, Penny Royal World, the Gunpowder Mill and Launceston Lakes Trout Fishing Complex. We're also right at the gateway of the Tamar Valley, providing the perfect base for you to return to after a day of wine tasting.
We strive to be at the heart of our local community by providing a place for friends to meet, for families to relax and to host local functions and events. We are the unofficial 'clubhouse' for a number of local sporting teams - a place to re-convene after matches, sell raffle tickets, celebrate victories and commiserate losses.

To start with the meals we’re good, but to be told by one staff member to hurry up an order as we were already 15 mins late. This was at 6.45 and our booking was for 6.30, then she came to our table and gave us a lecture on our to make our booking next year. (A group of friends have been meeting there every year on the first Tuesday of Dec for annual catch-up for approx 25 years) according to this young lass you must have to order your meal as soon as you walk in……Must say we all felt disrespected

I came in recently on a rare trip to Launceston from Hobart.
It is very family friendly with the excellent play area.
My young son has a severe allergy to egg. Upon questioning if there was anything on the kids menu that was egg free, we discovered none of it was safe for him to have. The chef offered to cook him anything from the main menu as a kids meal, and he chose the grilled fish which he loved. Such amazing service.
My chicken parmy was delicious also.
We will definitely come back.

The bedding was very poor, only 1 spare (exceptionally thin) blanket. The bed had 2 sheets and another very thin blanket on it. We froze all night even with the one and only spare blanket. The beds need a doona and maybe an electric blanket on them.
Cost of the room was very good value, the room was well appointed aside from the lack of bedding.
