I joined a few years ago originally to get some karate lessons for my boys. (Their kids lessons are fantastic BTW.)
However, after a break, I came back just to keep learning it for my own sake, and it has been a remarkable de-stress from work and a great fitness program. Also, as a guy in his 40s who has never martial arts before, I would strongly encourage anyone to come along and give it a go.

The AKA is a great and friendly place, very accessible for the inexperienced. Very popular with my son (5 yo) and a bunch of his friends. The instructors are clearly competent, professional and keep their approach and manner appropriate to the audience and their level of dedication which is much appreciated. And it's a bright, clean, well run and inviting place. There is nothing more I could ask.

I have joined AKA recently as my son has been training here for some time. I did martial arts in my young days, for a long time, and decided to get back into it to stay fit, become flexible and get my body moving – after a day at the desk.
Everyone is super friendly at AKA and I have been enjoying the experience. There is a good amount of guidance, and I’ve been progressing well – or I’d like to think so.
Highly recommended.

My kids joined the Dojo over a year ago and the atmosphere created by Cheyne Sensei and the team is amazing. Confidence, strength and general good attitude and discipline is what I've noticed my kids gained, so much so that I've also joined them and we are making it a family activity we can all enjoy and benefit from! HIghly recommended!

My motivation to join the AKA was to learn self-defence, and I feel as if I have achieved that. My experience with the AKA is that it is a very friendly environment and the instructors are very passionate about karate. This makes for an enjoyable learning environment. Since joining the AKA, I have felt more focused - which has translated to all aspects of my life - as well as a sense of discipline. I really enjoy attending the AKA.

If you are looking to get your kids into Karate, this is the place to be. Great staff and training and more availability than the other places we looked. There are around 5 lessons per week and your kids can attend as many or as few as they want. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of video communication and online training during lockdown. Stop looking and sign up now.
