Our chefs at Eastern Palace, Ang and Oi Fang, affectionately known to the locals as Billy and Lisa have operated the restaurant for 16 years. The Chinese cuisine at the Star Hotel Rutherglen offers Cantonese, Peking and Schezwan style food, all cooked fresh to order. The menu is extensive offering two banquet style meals or a la carte.
Functions are our specialty. We cater for engagements, weddings, birthdays, wakes and work parties. Our back lounge seats up till 120 people. Have a look at our smorgasbord menu if you are looking to cater for at least 60+ people and get value for money. Check out the beer garden which is heated in winter and has mist fans in summer to make you comfortable.

Location is the only good thing about this place. We were there for 4 nights and they did not make the rooms or clean, when asked they gave us new towels one day but that was it. Breakfast was not refilled all it was is sliced white bread, and some special K and CornFlakes packets with UHT milk packets.
Room was a death trap, the door was getting jammed from the inside, even though we complained, how they attempt to fix was plain silly and did not work at all. The lock was missing screws because the door was busted, but the screws they had were too shallow, and it was too hard to visit the hardware

I am a regular visitor to the hotel as I live in the region.
The hotel is an historical and classic country pub.
The service is very friendly and professional.
The food whether you choose classic pub meals or the excellent Asian cuisine would rate highly against any restaurant menus.
If you are visiting the area I would highly recommend a meal at the Star hotel.

The hotel was in the centre of town, very clean and had everything we needed for a two night stay. We were able to have our dog with us:) We had takeaway from the hotels Chinese restaurant which was delicious and plenty of it. Thank you for allowing us to stay with our pooch, we really appreciated it :) Sandy, Grant & Kyah
