The course was challenging, and front 9 was hilly, back 9 was like a different course - meaning greens were flatter and less mini-golf like. Sand traps needed attention when I was there. A little pricey and out of the way, while being in the middle of housing development.

I subbed in a league there tonight. Course was an awesome shape. League format was fun and very well organized. Mike Stacy does a great job running the show!

Courses as good or better conditions for less $$$ can be found in nearby area. Sunday morning round took 5+ hours. 5+ minute waits on some shots just not acceptable.

Great conditions, challenging course. All electric carts are equipped with gps and touchscreen to show hole layout, and for mapping out your shots by distance.

Nice track. even seems to have kept it together through the brutal summer that ate a lot of other courses in the area alive. greens slick and tricky. could have used a ranger, didn’t see one all day and the group ahead was definitely slowing things down (cart gps says we finished 15 min off pace). some of the tee boxes banged up. good challenge, lots of tees for varying levels. probably the best bang for my golf buck i’ve had all summer.

Friendly folks all around. Course well maintained and OPEN! Nice course but hilly and lots of rolls. If you are not a "straight shooter" (like me) be prepared to lose some balls. But I still keep coming back

I have been going to Shining Rock for a few years and was shocked by the condition of the course today. The greens were incredibly fast and pockmarked, there were no rangers on site that we could see to keep play moving along. Not to mention that there was no refreshment cart doing the rounds as usual, and it was a boiler out today!
Completely understandable that due to the pandemic things would change but the course definitely needs some TLC.
On a positive note, the staff upon check-in and tee-off were fantastic. Courteous, friendly, and on top of making sure tee times were honored. Once on

The course was great. Greens were slick and had lots of break. We played from the blue tees, good mix of short par 4's, long par 3's and risk/reward par 5's. The pace of play was pretty slow, didn't see a ranger once out on the course. Saw the cart girl once on #4 and that was it for the rest of the day. No range but you can hit into a net to get loose. "Short game area" is a bunker and small chipping area but the green is not maintained. Will definitely be back, course was that good.

Great course! Played with the Safari Club on 10/4. Course was in excellent condition throughout. Several elevation changes made for an interesting layout. Very challenging, but fair. This was our first visit to Shining Rock, and hopefully, we'll be playing it again next year.
