Our idea was to create a haven from the stresses of the outside world, somewhere to immerse yourself in. The restored 1877 original Highfields school house was the perfect place for our plans. From humble beginnings, we have literally grown with passion and hard work, producing all the chocolates in-house.
The cafe now seats 230 and serves meals 6 days per week from 8.00am to 5pm. Over the years six other cottage businesses have been set up to add to the many things to explore. A destination with an amazing experience awaits you. The Chocolate Cottage and Caf has a mantra that our love of food is served on every plate presented to our guests. We always use fresh local produce wherever possible and all meals are prepared in-house which has led to us winning numerous awards over the years from the Restaurant and Catering Association.
Our handmade chocolates are only available to purchase in our cafe and come in 60 different varieties to choose from. We have an extensive range of lollies and chocolates from traditional favourites to quirky novelties such as fried egg, pigs in mud, caterpillars and funny face lollypops. Hand-selected, packaged chocolates from around the world are also available in our gift shop.

Absolutely adorable little Cafe. Go early!! We went at 9am on a Saturday and blueberry muffins were already sold out. Scones were great, we got cheese and strawberry rhubarb, raspberry turnover is a must, lemonade was perfect and not too sweet which we really liked. Only disappointment were the croissants. They're more of a soft bready texture but proper traditional croissants are super flaky, theirs weren't bad but don't go in expecting the french style ones. Great service and smiling faces as well. We really liked it.

The view and ambience of this place was truly something to experience. Boats sail boats yachts and everything else that floats on water moves on by. Truly a site to take in and experience.
The food to me was a miss, the chilly was bland and it needed more salt. The tomatoe basil soup was Ritch and tasty however it was missing the same magical ingredient as the chilly.
The coffee, was not here nor there and it's something I could have lived without. I would definitely come back to this place because of the beauty and comfort it offered and it's surrounding environment.

Great coffee and baked goods, especially the croissants. Had the Breakfast Boat which was not so good as the croissant was microwaved and a bit soggy. We went there for lunch however the roast beef sandwich was rather bland and lacked taste and rather expensive for what you get. Had one day experienced service with a bad attitude which put us off going there for a while. Only would go back for their coffee and croissants and the great view of the river.

Went for breakfast here. EVERYTHING was incredible! Best breakfast burrito with lots of salsa on the side. Homemade bakery items and superior fresh and fancy coffees or teas. They also make beach or boat lunch boxes that sound incredible. Almost forgot but super nice people as well! WILL be back !!!
