Services
Medowie Gumnut Preschool has achieved several awards since its establishment in 1992. Our most recent achievement has been under going assessment and achieving an overall rating of 'Exceeding' all National Quality Standards. We have been awarded "2014 Trainee of the Year in Children's Services", overall "Trainee of The Year - Hunter Region", and runner up for "2016 Trainee of the Year - Children's Services".
Children learn through direct experience and self selection as each child is an individual with his/her own strengths, needs and interests. Children are capable of structuring their own learning when provided with the opportunity. Through play to encourage co-operation, consideration, self- motivation and unbiased attitudes.
Educators at Medowie Gumnut Preschool implement a child-centred program based upon the principles outlined in the NSW curriculum framework and the National Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) - 'Belonging, Being & Becoming.' We strive to empower children, by using their thoughts and ideas to develop the program.
Our preschool program is a play based program that incorporates the national curriculum known as the Early Years Learning Framework. We use this preschool program throughout our everyday learning. Children enrolled at Medowie Gumnut Preschool are supported and guided to develop a sense of self through reflection and understanding of how their decisions and choices impact upon themselves and others.
Medowie Gumnut Preschool has been awarded a rating of "Exceeding all National Standards". Once a service is accredited, eligible families are able to apply for the Child Care Benefit Subsidy (CCS). This benefit is available to assist families in meeting the cost of childcare. In order to further reduce costs & provide lower preschool fees for our families, we ask parents/carers to provide morning tea snacks and lunch for their child.
