Hoshindo Karate
Website
Ho Shin Do means the way of protecting the body. For the Sensei of our club, this has a much deeper meaning that just to protect the physical self from harm, it goes into the very nature of who we are as people and how we affect others. Karate training should enhance the character, build meaning into life and develop better people.

Call for a free class and choose a club that is more interested in the training and development of the student. Our instructors are all Japan trained and graded. Senior in the Japan Karatedo Federation Gojukai and registered as the Brisbane Central Dojo for the JKF Gojukai.

Roderick Martin Shihan (6th Dan Gojuryu Seiwakai, 6th Dan JKF Gojukai) and Malwina Martin Shihan (5th Dan Gojuryu Seiwakai, 5th Dan JKF Gojukai) started the club in 2005 after teaching and training for many years around the world. Hoshindo karate brought them back to Brisbane with their children and they have now brought together a number of extremely talented instructors into the group.
Hoshindo Karate is a open club. We strive to help people become the best they can be. Different people want different things from their training; Adults want fitness and to be able to dedicate themselves to something new, Parents want discipline and confidence for their kids, the kids just want to have some fine.

My 2 school aged kids have been part of this club for a few years now. What's kept them there is not so much that they're great at karate, but that karate is great for them. The other factor is that Rod and his team of teachers are very good at what they do, striking a wonderful balance between it being fun, as well as a serious and disciplined activity at the same time. I'm a big fan of the culture of this club and highly recommend giving it a go. I'm glad we did, because it's wonderful for my kids overall development.

Hoshindo is a wonderfully warm and inclusive club that builds up students to be the best they can be. They provide a framework of self awareness, confidence, teamwork, dedication and discipline, values which carry students through their learning in self defence and in life.
