Welcome to the home of the Seishinjuku Karate Dojo, which is based in Bardon, Brisbane and is the officially registered Dojo of the Shorinjiryu Kenyukai Watanabe Ha Karate Federation in Australia. We have a free trial class available for everyone so you can be sure you are happy with your decision before commencing your martial arts journey.

One of the chief proponents of Shorinjiryu Karate Do, and a leading disciple of Shinan Kori Hisataka, is Shihan Shunji Watanabe, 9th Dan, chief instructor and president of the Shorinjiryu Watanabe-Ha Karate-Do Federation. Shihan Watanabe was born in Japan in 1938, and began his martial arts instruction with Shinan Kori Hisataka in 1955 at the Hombu dojo in Tokyo.
There are currently monthly and per session rates for adults and kids classes, with discounts available for multiple family members. Please contact Sensei Jason for further information. For new students we recommend wearing loose clothing, such as tracksuit pants or shorts, and a t-shirt to class. Jewellery and watches should not be worn during training.
Kihon Waza includes the basic techniques which provide the foundation for Karate Do. Kihon Waza are practiced regularly by students of all ranks, and are considered the cornerstone of training. Kata are sequences of karate techniques developed as a method of training when alone, and as a vehicle for preserving and teaching the essence of a particular style of martial art.
Karate training for adults is available to all, male and female from 17 to 70 years of age. At the Seishinjuku Dojo we run small but dedicated classes for people looking for an authentic, traditional karate experience. We treat you as a student as opposed to an income stream or a punching bag.
Whether you're looking for a new challenge, a new source of health and fitness, or just looking to make friends in a safe but hardworking dojo environment that will test and challenge you, we invite you to come in and try us.
