Stephen completed his Bachelor of Optometry at Melbourne University in 1985 & has been in private practice since. His interests include contact lenses including the more difficult cases that find their way to us. He is the current President of the Cornea & Contact Lens Society of Australia (CCLSA) Victorian Chapter, a member of the Australian College of Optometry (ACO) & the Optometrists Association of Australia (OAA).
Instant health fund rebates are available at the practice (via electronic claiming) for members of private health insurance funds with appropriate optical cover. We have HICAPS facilities and can process your claim directly here upon collection of your contact lenses or spectacles if you have your card with you.
Optometric consultations qualify for Medicare rebates. We Bulk Bill wherever possible but there will be some out of pocket expenses for some optometric procedures that are not covered under Medicare such as Digital Ocular Photography, Ocular Coherence Tomography & Corneal Topography. This is the nicest optometrist in town. Excellent friendly service. Explains everything. Takes his time. Did not push me to new lenses or frames because I didn’t need them. Understood my complex eye history and I got a sexy pair of sunnies and reading glasses (that I DID need). My only qualm is that they need more cool and quirky frames. They had exactly what I needed but only because they’d brought a few interesting frames in from their lilydale stioe. More quirk for Fitzroy please!

Hands down the best and most thorough eye exam I've ever received. The staff is so friendly and welcoming - I can't emphasize that enough. Sam was absolutely fantastic during my exam; he's very informative, a delight to chat with, and he's clearly very passionate at what he does. Customer service and efficiency is top notch, HIGHLY recommend this place.

One of the best optometrists and glasses repair shop in Melbourne:
Story: I have vintage glasses (vanguard) with virat hinges. I broke the both arms, but the hinges were intact. I took my glasses to a specialist glasses repair shop called migitech in CBD and they wanted to charge me 160 dollars for new cheap replacement arms (from another glasses) and they said they have to change the hinges too because they have no arms that go with my glasses hinges.
I then found an I-care optometrist in collingwood they did the whole job for me with only 50 dollars!!!!
They got me new arms that looked like

Peter and the staff here do an amazing job. Such a good job that I never changed optometrists once I found them in Melbourne. Now that I live elsewhere I have since changed. Peter still treated me like a client however, emailing me my previous script and communicating with my new optometrist when I needed some help. Highly recommended. Frames here are a higher calibre and a bit too expensive for my budget but I would always have my eyes checked here if I could.

My second day of trialing contact lenses that were provided by another company, but have been struggling to remove them. Dropped into I-Care Collingwood unannounced for some advice and was taught an effective technique that worked for me! I can't thank you all enough for your friendly, patient and effective advice. I know where I'll be returning to in the future. Very much appreciated!
