The Crossbones Clinic is a doctor-led sports injury rehabilitation clinic based in Newcastle, NSW. We are here to provide ongoing management of all types of sporting injuries, including concussion injury management and post-surgical rehabilitation. When you are injured, it is important to see a medical team who understand the nature of sporting injuries, a supported return to activity, and the prevention of injury recurrence.

The Clinic aims to offer a single port of call for sports injury management and rehabilitation. Our sports doctor has a background in general practice, with specialist qualifications in sports medicine and rehabilitation. We utilise a network of physiotherapists, exercise physiologist and dieticians who all share our passion for getting athletes of all levels and abilities back to their pre-injury form.

Dr Jen Coleman graduated from the University of Technology, Sydney in 2005 with First Class Honours in Forensic Science, before continuing studies in the graduate medical program at the University of Sydney. The Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) is one of two ligaments inside the knee that contribute to the stability of the knee joint, preventing forward movement of the tibia (shin bone) and providing some rotational (twisting) stability. The Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL) is the other ligament, and is injured much more rarely.
Sports-related concussion (SRC) is a mild traumatic brain injury caused by biomechanical forces, which may be as a result of a direct blow to the head, or transmitted forces from impact elsewhere on the body. SRC is commonly seen in contact sports, such as rugby union, rugby league and AFL, as well as football (soccer), but can be seen in any sport, for example horse-riding and cycling.
We are open Monday and Thursday afternoons, for new injuries and follow-up appointments, and Fridays (particularly for those requiring medical clearance prior to weekend competition). If you need to cancel or rearrange your appointment, please inform the clinic as soon as possible, as fees may apply for non-attendance.
