As one of Margaret River's 'founding five' wineries, Cape Mentelle pioneered many of the region's renowned wine styles and today is a benchmark for the quality of the region's wines. The winery takes its name from the nearby Cape, named by the French 'Baudin Expedition' which charted the coast of Western Australia in 1801.

What a fantastic venue for a movie under the stars! Cape Mentelle has a lovely grassed area amongst the trees where we watched the latest James Bond movie - No Time To Die. We enjoyed some pleasant Cape Mentelle wines (2018 Shiraz Cabernet and 2021 Rose - no byo) whilst being enticed by the Little Hand Dumplings food truck. We ordered the pan fried pork dumplings, steamed mushroom dumplings and crumbed chicken vegetable wrap, which were delicious😋 Bean bag hire was available for those who didn't bring picinic rugs or chairs. Warm clothes and blankets are essential as the sun goes down the temperature

I did Behind the scenes tour with my family. Leanne was amazing. She has all the skills and qualities of perfect host. She made this tour memorable. I would definitely recommend this tour to others. I was delighted by the quality of wine and services I received at Cape Mentelle. I will visit it again as well.

A short Cellar Door visit turned into slightly over an hour with a very patient LeAnn who took me through the whole tasting flight. Her enthusiasm for the heritage of the winery and willingness to share was a good start to the experience.
She took her time for each wine and provided me detailed information, and a tablet, which I could turn to when she shuttles between guests. No question was too simple or irrelevant for her.
The Cape Mentelle quality as well as the professional service makes this visit such a pleasant one.
While I was very ably taken care of, my family had a great time walking

I visited CM on my first day in Margaret River. .. so impressed with the wines i had to go back today, after many others, to confirm my initial impressions. The wines on offer are the best in the region that I've tasted. There wasn't one which was short of excellent. Cellar door staff were clearly passionate and well informed about wine - not just theirs. A thoroughly enjoyable experience. Don't be put off by their huge corporate ownership. ... this is a great winery with exceptional wines. Highly recommended. Simon, New Zealand.
