Michael has a real passion for optometry. He obtained his qualifications as an optometrist at The University of Melbourne, and has been in practice for over 25 years. He branched out to set up his own practice in a local medical centre in 1991, which has now evolved into the optometry practice we see today.
There may be some confusion about exactly what is done when someone's eyes are examined. There may also be confusion about the difference between an Optometrist and an Ophthalmologist. Let me try and make both of these a little more easy to understand. Firstly, there is a lot more done when a person's eyes are examined than checking if they require spectacles.
Behavioural optometry is a specialised branch of optometry that deals with many different aspects of vision, including visual development, visual perception, strabismus, amblyopia, vision therapy and specialised visual aids. Behavioural optometrists have done an undergraduate Optometry degree and then a further year of postgraduate study in Behavioural Optometry.
New developments in contact lens technology in recent years have opened the door for many more people to experience the benefits which contact lenses can provide. No longer are there time-consuming and costly cleaning regimes for contact lenses. Frequent complaints of dry, gritty, and red eyes with contact lens wear have been addressed with numerous new materials and designs.

A big thank you to Michael and the team at wicks eyecare. Great customer service by the team. Also huge thanks to Michael for the expertise and advice . All my question where answered in detail made feel at ease with my condition and and vision in life . I have been going to budget optometrist year after year with great disappointment .
