The Preschool is located at Pretty Beach on the Central Coast of NSW and is licensed to take children aged from 2 to 6. The preschool is required under Government Legislation to give priority to children the year before school, 4-year old's then 3-year old's, so therefore of recent years we have been unable to offer 2-year old's a position.

Walsingham Community Preschool (now Pretty Beach Community Preschool) opened in 1989, when members of the local community obtained an operational grant from the government and secured the rental premises fromnity the local parish. We believe playfulness, fantasy, fun, humour, silliness and occasionally the ridiculous or absurd have a place in our children's service!

Recent research confirms that literacy starts well before children enter school and that the early years of life are the most critical for learning. The literacy understandings and experiences that take place before school age are a key factor in lifelong successful literacy learning.
At Pretty Beach Community Preschool we work in partnership with families, developing an understanding about children's home literacy practices, allowing early childhood staff to support and build on what children already know.Once the educators are familiar with the children's diverse experiences with literacy, they then incorporate these experiences and associated resources into the program.

The building design is guided by its required functionality as a preschool, the desired experience of its future occupants, environmental sustainability, as well as its response to the site, bush surroundings, topography, the sun and the wind. The design intent is to create and nurture an appreciation of the natural environment by its transparency between the inside and outside, form and detail.

PrettyBeach Preschool is such a supportive magical place. I viewed 7 day care facilities before seeing Pretty Beach. I knew within minutes of walking in it was the place I wanted my children to spend time in.… The teachers are so caring, there staff to student ratio is far better than the long day care facilities I visited prior. We’ve so enjoyed our experience, I highly recommend the preschool to anyone looking for care. Attached below is a post I put up last year at their Christmas party. 🙂🙂🙂

My daughter has attended this preschool for a year now and she just loves it. The educators are amazing. The school has a lovely relaxed feel about it. The equipment and outdoor area are great. If you are looking for a caring and community focused pre-school this place is perfect and the setting is gorgeous.
