We are engaging with families, schools and other professionals, striving to achieve the best outcome for our clients. Through the improvement of language and literacy skills we endeavour to promote learning and boost your confidence with the growth of social interaction skills. Ours is a Speech Pathology practice with an educational focus, engaging clients with language, speech and/or literacy difficulties, or with an autism spectrum disorder.
While children form the majority of our client base, we also work with individuals of any age who face literacy or language challenges. With our dedicated and professional team based across two sites at Mitcham and Ringwood, in Melbourne's eastern suburbs, we are able to offer a flexible range of service possibilities.

Services
Throughout her career Louise has worked in Community Health, hospitals, schools and private practices. She has a history of working with hearing impaired individuals. At present her focus rests on children and young adults within the Autism Spectrum, and those with Developmental Language Disorder, and/or literacy issues.
Around 1 in 10 Australians have a moderate to severe language disorder, causing them to struggle with learning their first language. These individuals often begin talking a later than average age and may have impaired grammatical development. It can cause them to have difficulty following instructions, expanding their vocabulary, and expressing themselves verbally.
Making learning to read fun, TRUGs is designed to aid children who have difficulty reading, cannot read or have dyslexia. Created by a phonetics specialist, this 'at home' edition allows parents and teachers to support the teaching methods of systematic synthetic phonics in a hugely engaging way. Each set contains phonics card games that can be used to sound out phonemes to enhance the child's knowledge of letter-sound correspondences.
You do not need a referral to see a speech pathologist and are able to contact us via phone or email to make an appointment. If you have a referral from your GP, Paediatrician or Psychiatrist under a government rebate system such as a CDM, you will be able to receive a rebate for our services. Upon contacting Speaking of Learning to book your first appointment, we start with a 60 minute Initial Consultation with one of our speech pathologists.
We understand that any enquiries regarding fees can be stressful, so we endeavour to be upfront about our service fees. At Speaking of Learning our aim is to always offer high quality services with no hidden extras. Ensuring that we are always current and transparent regarding any fees and that they remain inline with all government funded service requirements.

Report
My daughter was really struggling with her reading and writing and falling behind in school. We tried a variety of speechies and different approaches without much success. However after seeing Louise at speaking of learning my daughter had improved soo much and I am no longer worried about her falling behind. She really knows her stuff and I am amazed by the improvement that has happened in such a short time.
