Services
OT for Kids prioritises positive interactions through play. We respect the power of relationships to build interaction, communication, positive behaviours and problem solving. A fun, joyful and respectful relationship with children is central in helping us to work together on the things that are challenging.
Providing fun, meaningful, family-centred, strengths orientated and outcome focussed occupational therapy services so that your child can do the best they can in everything that they do. Our aim is always to build capacity in children and families, which means working ourselves out of a job! OT for Kids can provide services at school, preschool, childcare centre, home or at our specialised clinic at Blacktown.
Some skills need to supported and worked on at home such as skills children need to look after themselves eg. OT for Kids offers home-based occupational therapy for clients who also attend the clinic in Blacktown for short blocks of time to work on specific goals. As we are not a home-based service, this is negotiated with families depending upon the goals they have for their child and the treating Occupational Therapists' availability.
Children who are seen at our play space and clinic in Blacktown, we offer collaborative school visits to support engagement and learning, work with teachers and support staff so that the gains that are being made in therapy are generalised to the classroom and playground. We also run OT for Kids School Clinics at specific schools, where we work individually or with small groups of children on a regular basis.
To ensure a long term, sustainable model OT for Kids works with teachers and whole classes to promote the basic motor skills children need to be learners and writers. We screen and track children's progress, and work alongside teachers to find good classroom solutions. This helps teachers develop important new skills, along with a framework to consider children's sensorimotor needs and their relationship with learning and attention.
