The team approach at Therapy and Learning Centre combines Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy. Highly experienced and qualified therapists work together to identify problem areas for children of all ages. We then develop programs to help each child specifically. The combination of both therapies allows children to excel with their fine and gross motor skills.
A combined assessment gives us a more thorough picture of the child as a whole. This allows us to design a more comprehensive program to help each individual child, rather than just addressing a particular skill or problem area. For example, when a child presents with a handwriting difficulty, there are often underlying postural control issues that are impacting their fine motor control.

Services
Sometimes babies will take a little longer to reach their milestones or sometimes they will perform these movements in an awkward manner. This can be caused by a number of reasons. Once these are identified, we then teach handling and positioning techniques as well as play strategies to promote the use of the correct combination of muscles.
Depending on the age of your child, we recommend our thorough 2 hour assessment which involves an occupational therapy and physiotherapy review. After this, we usually write a report that outlines our findings, our specific individualised therapy plan and recommendations. You can then send this report to your school, GP, paediatrician or use it for your NDIS application.
