Local residents had a vision for a community operated preschool to provide an educational program for children aged 3 to 5 years. The program and daily routines are flexible and reflect the individual needs of the children. Our learning environment reflects that children are viewed as constructors of their own knowledge and that adults are facilitators and co learners.
Services
With the establishment of the suburb of Winmalee, local residents had a vision for a community operated preschool to provide an educational preschool program for children aged 3 to 5 years. Working in partnership with the Blue Mountains City Council, who provided the land and building, a not-for-profit, community based preschool was established in 1978.
Winmalee Community Preschool celebrates learning and works actively within a community of learners to provide our children with an educational foundation for lifelong learning. We see our community of learners as including children, families, staff and members of the wider community. Each community member is a valued individual, who brings their own values, cultures, beliefs, abilities and language to the preschool community.
The Preschools child centred program is based upon the principles outlined in the NSW Curriculum Framework and the National Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) - "Belonging, Being & Becoming". It is influenced by the philosophy of Reggio Emilia and The Anti Bias Curriculum. The learning environment reflects that children are viewed as constructors of their own knowledge and that adults are facilitators and co learners.
