Our specialists are frequently invited by professional organisations to lecture at conferences on the topic of dental implants and periodontics. Dr Luke Villata is currently head of the Diploma in Implant Dentistry course which is run from Charles Sturt University.
It is the breakdown of the supporting tissues such as bone, ligaments and gum around your teeth, caused by bacteria in your mouth. Everyone can develop periodontal disease but some people are more susceptible than others. These are people with poor oral hygiene, smokers, people with diabetes, anyone under high stress and there can be a genetic link as well.
A dental implant is a permanent and comfortable replacement for the root portion of your natural tooth and is anchored into a pre drilled socket in your jaw-bone to support a crown, bridge or secure a denture firmly in place. Implants are made from titanium, a material that is well tolerated by bone and integrates easily with bone tissue.

So glad I found Dr Luke Villata. My case was a bit tricky. I needed bone graft and implant done and was under a very tight time constraint as I needed everything done ready for my wedding. Dr Villata gave me a peace of mind right from the start. He was very clear during the consultation and set my expectations right. My surgeries were successful. Dr Villata is very professional. Really grateful for the gum graft i had done on my lower jaw. From the reception, to the surgery, to the aftercare with the hygienist, I was so well looked after. So well cared for and the whole process was made a lot less daunting. They're pretty busy but if you end up with them and follow their aftercare you should be fine :)
