Services
Started from humble beginnings in 1960 by Hugo Van Dyk who learned his multi-engraving skills in Holland, before immigrating to Australia in 1953. After some time, working with a Melbourne Engraving Company, Hugo saw the opportunity to start Dandenong Industrial Engravers to serve the printing, packaging and greeting card industries with dimensional foil stamping and embossing dies.
Please see the fourth image below as a comparison between the lasering etching and engraving into the steel. Note that the engraving comes out darker. Stainless steel comes in a natural silver colour only. Some customers request their stainless plates to have a different coloured background. We outsource powder coating for this process.
We produce embossing dies for the printing and embellishment industries. Embossing give the paper a 'raised' effect. Greeting cards, business cards, dvd covers, concert programs, to name a few are commonly embossed. We produce embossing dies 2 ways. Flat embossing with different levels can be engraved on our CNC machine.
We supply the hand sculptured brass dies, as opposed to the common plastic ones. These are hard to come by in Australia and we are one of the only companies Australia wide that still offer this type of work. Brass dies allow for more details, more depth and sculpturing, as well as lasting a very long time.
If supplying artwork we would prefer a vector image either as line art, black and white, eps or cdr file. A pdf version is fine. Please note that bitmaps are very low in resolution and will need to be converted. We can convert and design artwork for you, which will include a once off fee. Any artwork that is requested for approval will accost a fee regardless of whether you decide to go ahead with the works or not.
