At 'Sensational Kids OT' we aim to maximise each child's potential and to support their development through a motivational framework of play. We have a strong focus on family-centered practice and encourage family participation, providing opportunities for 'hand's-on' learning experiences within each session.
A comprehensive assessment process will be undertaken with each new referral received at Sensational Kids OT. This assessment process will include best practice assessment tools with some standardised assessment and structured clinical observations to obtain a baseline of your child's strengths and weaknesses to help determine priorities for treatment.
Sensational Kids OT offers parent coaching services to support parents, carers and professionals enhance their knowledge and skills in supporting the success of children. Parent coaching sessions occur 1:1 via ZOOM Video Conferencing software on a phone App or computer, which makes accessing Paediatric Occupational Therapy support flexible and convenient to you (no waiting lists).
Sensory Integration is the ability to organise and interpret information we receive through the senses from our own bodies & the environment. Our work with babies and infants varies greatly however the overall aim of intervention at this age is develop the early motor, social-emotional and regulation capacities that are essential for development in later years of life.
Sensory Integration theory and treatment was originally developed by Jean Ayres. Sensory Integration is neurological process by which we all take in and integrate the sensory information from our own bodies & the world around us. Sensory integration allows us to provide meaning to the sensory information we receive and to produce responses appropriate to ourselves, the task and the environment in which we function.
