South Melbourne Psychology
South Melbourne Psychology is a practice of highly qualified Clinical Psychologists and Relationship Counsellors. We work with you around your life choices and your relationships, your health behaviours and work/life balance, and on understanding your emotional world. At South Melbourne Psychology we will assist you to grow yourself and your relationships to build a more contented life.
Services
Our starting point for therapy is a collaborative process to understand what is currently happening in your life and what has brought you to therapy. In addition to gaining insight into your current circumstances, this will usually involve exploring your experience of significant past and present relationships, and of any specific experiences which have shaped your personality, your sense of self, and your relational life.
Individual psychotherapy can be useful in addressing specific episodes of psychological or emotional distress as well as long-standing life patterns which disrupt relationships and your capacity to function optimally. At your first call, we will identify your needs and arrange an initial meeting time with the appropriate psychologist.
At South Melbourne Psychology we understand how and why relationships work or don't work. Relationships are never simple because two people will always have some different needs, dreams, desires and ways of doing things. The key is not always to resolve conflict but to learn how to be with each other in the conflict to find a stronger and more vital relationship.
I am a psychotherapist who works with a broad spectrum of psychological and emotional distress including relationship difficulties, the impact of trauma, anxiety, depression and life transitions. My primary trainings and interests are clinical psychology, psychoanalysis, somatic (body-centred) psychotherapy, Jungian psychology, emotion-focussed therapy, and the intersections between western and eastern traditions.
The disciplines of psychology, counselling, psychotherapy and psychiatry share some similarities in that they all aim to assist individuals engaging with psychological and emotional distress. However, they are also strikingly different in some aspects of their training, accreditation and approach to this work.

I was referred to this practice. I rang to make an appointment. The person to whom I spoke was to say the least very unhelpful and lacked the understanding, compassion and empathy and skill to deal with a person who was at that time in a high state of distress. This person needs to be made aware of the consequences of her actions. I was eventually able to get help on the day in question. If it were otherwise it could have had a "bad"outcome . Your front line staff need to be better trained to deal with people who are needing urgent help! I would advise people not even try to get help at this clinic

1 star is even too much for this practice!
I was experiencing a bad period, so I walked by this "practice" hoping to get some more informations as I was in the area.
There wasn't any reception, so after few minutes I've been reached by one of the female psychologists. Not only she was rude and kept telling me that I had to call a number to make an appointment, but she made me feel very unconfortable, pretending even to not understand me!!
That should be against any doctor's principle, clearly she didn't have any appointments, was that really hard to dedicate few minutes to a person in a clearly

Claudia Guersenzvaig was nasty, disinterested, incompetent and unhelpful. Not recommended if you are looking to recover from crime. She kept telling me to do things that were out of my budget, and paid no attention to the reality of my situation. In the end I didn't receive any understanding or empathy, just caused myself financial stress by seeing this woman.
