The mission of The Ashgrove Memorial Kindergarten is to create a nurturing place of joy in learning. We seek to extend and enrich each child's life, and to provide opportunities for self-expression and growth. Our strength is generated by our commitment to our children, our families and our community.
Quality, educationally-based equipment, incorporating the natural world wherever possible. Community connections - we were affiliated with C&K for 40 years and are now affiliated with The Gowrie, who have been a community organisation for 60 years. Ashgrove Memorial Kindergarten has been operating for 70 years.
Our educators guide, nurture and harness each child's natural curiosity by forming meaningful, respectful relationships that allow them to develop an extensive understanding of the world around them. To support best practices, we continually invest in our staff by providing professional development workshops to create and maintain a happy and supportive work environment.
In Australia we have Universal Access - the aim of which is to have every 4 year old able to access a kindergarten program led by a university trained teacher, like we have at Ashgrove Memorial. There is a national framework called the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the Queensland implementation of this for kindergarten-aged children called the Qld Kindergarten Learning Guidelines.
We operate four kindergarten (pre-prep) groups of 22 children, with a total capacity of 88 (44 on any given day). Each group has their own fully qualified, registered Early Childhood teacher and fully qualified assistant. A parent is usually on roster as well, so our adult-child ratios exceed the national standards.
