It was around the turn of the millennium when we, two Frenchmen, became colleagues in the UK working at a restaurant in Bath called 'Beaujolais'. Ludo in the kitchen and Xav front of house. It wasn't long after, and a few wines later, we became best friends and the dream of opening a French restaurant in Sydney, Australia, began.
We have a passion for simple, classic things and we love seeing the happiness people feel from good food and good wine. That has been our vision all along and that's what makes Bistro Papillon special to so many.

Beautiful and intimate experience with delicious French cuisine in a small cosy restaurant. Staff were friendly, accommodating and very attentive. The pate and seafood stew were my favourite dishes of the night. We were celebrating my husband's birthday and were greeted with a cute candle with our creme brulee. Thank you so much for the night Bistro Papillon!

Perfect place to be on a cold rainy night, a cute French restaurant in the heart of the city. The bread and butter alone is worth going there for. My Confit Cunard was very soft duck, not too fatty with gorgeous Mash. My friends meal options were also amazing from what I tasted, what they said and how the meals looked. We ended the night with Tartar Tan, could have been served a little hotter but apart from that perfect in flavour. Our waiter Andre was so lovely, helpful and very efficient. All up a great first time visit of many more to come rain or shine.
