Serving up cold beers, cracking wines, delicious food and good old fashioned hospitality seven days a week, the Spready is your friendly local pub in the heart of Richmond. We have been pouring drinks for Richmond regulars for more than 130 years and are proudly a locals pub. Come and watch the footy with mates, enjoy an after work drink, share a meal with the family, or kick back and enjoy the weekends' live music.
We are a place for all. Book a table below, or pop in to the bar for an impromptu pint - we are keeping the bar area and some space outside for walk-in guests. If you are interested in booking one of our versatile upstairs function spaces or would like to discuss a large group booking, please email us here with a few details or give us a call on 03 94286895.

I want to say a big thank you for the service at the Spread Eagle Hotel.
A large group of us sat upstairs for dinner earlier this week in the private room and our waitress was absolutely delightful (very attentive and prompt in taking our orders). The food was delicious!
We look forward to visiting again soon.

This is one of those pubs that makes me wonder whether it is a pub or a restaurant. Actually, it is a pub with a restaurant because I do remember sitting at the table after ordering a beer from the bar. Mind you, the odd thing that I have noticed is that people don't seem to sit at bars anymore - or at least they don't in most pubs, which makes the bar sitting pubs somewhat or a rareity. This, as you can probably guess, is not a bar sitting pub. Anyway, it is an okay pub, though not hugely fantastic. As I mentioned it has a restaurant, but there is also a small outdoor area out the back

Having recently moved to Hawthorn, I was recommended the Spready as the best steak night in the city (not just the east side), so popular that reservations are required each and every week.
From what looks like your standard old dodgy pub on Bridge Road from the outside, inside is a sleek and yet comfortable space, with fabulous welcoming staff and a great vibe all round.
The star of the day, the steak, did not disappoint. Cooked to perfection, a slab of Porterhouse so big I was unable to finish it, accompanied by a delicious rocket salad and scalloped potato.

I dig that there's still dingy old pubs still kicking along inner-city, but the 2 stars here is more for the crowd, which the past few times I've popped in for a drink has been of the super-messy, borderline aggressive variety. Pretty bogan-ish. Probably great for watching footy in winter. In summer though, there's so many other options around Richmond to enjoy.

A Monday night haunt for my boyfriend and his soccer team, I went and checked it out on $12 parma night.
There were 6 parmas to choose from (traditional, bolognese, meat lovers, Hawaiian, Mexican and egplant) with side options of chips or veges.
When they arrived, they were all as big as our faces - as parmas should be. Across our table of 6 I think we tried nearly all the options.
We all left VERY full and equally satisfied.

Great name - always raises eyebrows - good pub food (and plenty of it), and, as a male friend has enthusiastically commented, 'this place seems to attract hot women'.
A good place to watch the footy, or an election if that takes your fancy, and the bands are open to requests. Given they are often just centimetres from their audience, it's not like they have much choice though...
