After working as a pharmacist for a few years, Dr. Eric decided to change careers and went on to complete his Bachelor of Dental Surgery Degree at James Cook University in Queensland. Dr. Eric enjoys all aspects of general dentistry with a special interest and passion in orthodontics (braces) and cosmetic dentistry.
Dr Hailey obtained her degree from Griffith University in Queensland, having previously completed a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from Monash University in Melbourne. She believes all aspects of dentistry go hand in hand and most people require treatment involving multiple procedures to achieve their desired outcome.
Crowded and crooked teeth attract more bacteria and plaque due to the difficulty in brushing and flossing all the areas. Consequently, there is an increased risk of getting decay or gum disease, which may ultimately result in tooth loss. By straightening the teeth with orthodontics, it allows easier cleaning and brushing of teeth and gums, as well as providing you with a brighter and healthier smile!
Our team understand some patients may experience anxiety, stress and nervousness when going to the dentist. Dental anxiety usually arises due to a negative experience in the past. This can be associated with certain triggers such as the sound of the drills, the needles, or the dental setting in general.
Bacteria naturally live on teeth and gums, which result in the formation of plaque. This material can be removed with regular oral hygiene habits such as when you brush your teeth or floss. Plaque that is not removed sufficiently from the teeth and gums can harden, becoming tartar. Tartar cannot be removed with brushing alone - it must be removed by your dentist.
