Peter and Paul bring their extensive skills in numerical and physical modelling of coastal and offshore processes, and in coastal engineering design to the Coasts and Environment Group. Our coastal engineers are involved in the many activities associated with identifying physical processes shaping local shorelines; the appropriate management of shoreline erosion problems; the protection of coastal assets against extreme storm surges and severe wave conditions; identifying and implementing effective climate change adaptation strategies; and in general, ensuring the successful integration of coastal works into the dynamic coastal zone.

Coastal Engineering Solutions' staff combine state-of-the-art technical expertise with extensive practical experience to provide clients with innovative, cost effective and environmentally acceptable solutions for the protection of foreshore assets - including beach nourishment/enhancement, groynes, seawalls and breakwaters.
The construction of seawalls does not simply entail dumping rock on a foreshore. We often draw the parallel with the construction of a house. You don't build a house by simply tipping a truckload of timber onto a vacant block of land. Individual components must be assembled appropriately so as to sustain external loads in order to fulfil the intended purpose of the structure.
Coastal Engineering Solutions has provided design services and technical support to the implementation of many beach nourishment projects throughout Australia, South East Asia and the Pacific Region. Initial Nourishment - through the placement of a sufficient volume of sand to establish sand buffers that accommodate erosion caused by a nominated Design Event.
