Went to a work function here yesterday and was impressed. The finger food was great especially the pork belly and the sliders. The staff were friendly and they proactively kept drinks topped up so there was no waiting around. The outdoor area is also good and a decent size for three location.

Love this place! Always good to come in and grab a quick lunch or relax with a glass of wine after work. It's unfortunate that the business has come to a close.

Went for the express lunch and it was terrible. The champagne was flat and my friend had to send it back. The food was hardly French. I ordered the carrot salad and it was literally just shaved carrot in oil. . .for $20 was very disappointing. I went a year ago and this place was great - it's a shame that it's fallen so much. Mr Mason change your menu to better food and variety and ensure the meals are quality.

Restaurant review only and it's one dissaponted customer.
The produce and ingredients tasted as if they of a higher quality but the final cooking was a bit of a let down, we ordered seared scallops which were seared but a bit overcooked, the lamb rump with red wine jus had more of a honey glaze and was overcooked, the half duck was delicious but the the potatoes weren't even crispy it's as if they have been pre cooked with a char on them and then re heated in a microwave.
there were only 4 people in the dining space but they still didn't deliver a dinner worth $178 including drinks.

Very disappointed in the service and the food. Would not go again AT ALL. I asked the waitress whether the salad in the main menu gives generous portion as I told her I was hungry. She ensured that yes it is of generous portion. The dish came out with the salad on one side of the dish as the portion was very small, definitely of side dish size. My friend and I both looked at it and was like "is that it?". I then asked the waitress why didn't you tell me because otherwise I would have ordered something more filling. She said that she must have a smaller stomach. I ended up having to order another

Lunch service was very slow. $20 Burger was not great and my friends calamari was over cooked and chewy. They do not split bills and the ATM withdrawal fee is $3. The venue is nice however.

We had a voucher from Red Balloon as a gift. It was a french dinner for 2 with cheese and wine. It was really fantastic dinner with 4 service of different wines each. The entree was the most delicious experience, large varieties and quantities. the staff were nice and professional. I recommend to those looking for something different.

We had an average experience. Burgers dry and needed sauce/flavour, duck was tough, and the beef was gristly. Desserts were quite good though. Service was ok but we felt rushed out at the end (approx 11pm on a Saturday night) when restaurant is advertised as being open till 'late'.

Progressive dinner continued at Mr Mason.

Quite small place, waiter was really good and recommend the wine to go with the dinner.

We both chose the salmon which was cooked well, I like mine a bit on the pink side in the middle which it was so very happy about that.

Biggest problem was dessert, was called lemon meringue on the menu but it was not what we expected as was a really cold, almost frozen block of lemon curd which was ok if they would call it semi fredo but they didn't. I would have chosen something else if I had known.

Was also cold in there and there was a very noisy group

We had a 6 course degustation (which actually turned out to be 7 courses) paired with wine. They were fully booked but were able to squeeze us in (group of 3). The restaurant is beautiful, the service was fantastic and the food was amazing! The only thing was that each course was paired with a FULL glass of wine, which wasn't a huge problem for us (we do like our wine although we did have to back it up at a full day wine tour the following day). Would definitely recommend and will revisit next time in Melbourne!

Terribly chic and overly French Mr Mason makes this space really work. And oh my does it work well.

On a side note we attended Melbourne Cup Day lunch, but I would assume that the effortlessly good service flows this well all the time.

Mr Mason offers a reasonable wine list with a mixture of well known houses on offer. Our limited set menu offered something to fancy the most pompous Parisian. Barramundi, pork belly and fillets or an asparagus dish. Our table order one of each to avoid menu envy between our group. The only envy we had was from the lack of warm bread, which we devoured shortly

I rarely venture to the law end of town (or the Beirut end for those raised in Melbourne) end of town and as such had never been or heard of Mr Mason...I was very pleasantly surprised at the quality on offer here. The wait staff were impeccable and the quality of food high...try the scrumptous pork belly matched with a nice pinot noir!

This place is definitely a hidden gem. It's tucked away in the middle of the CBD and on the weekends, you can only enter via Little Collins. It has a nice cozy snow lodge type feel in my opinion. You walk in and the dark wooden colour with the fireplace right in the centre. Wonderful for a nice cold winters day.

We went for the High Tea which was $40 and $10 for a glass of Veuve Clicquot (can't forget to mention every glass of it is $10 per glass while you are there and we had the Brut and Rose). The amount of food you get, you definitely shouldn't have lunch and you should also

The staff are always friendly and I like the mix of the wine list with imported and local wines being available by the glass (about 30 choices if you include sparkling). We went here for a work function and the platters of food were fantastic, my vegan dish being tempura zucchini flowers, bruschetta and more nibbles, washed down with Alsace riesling - what more could I want. They can get very busy on their "member only" nights but are always smiling.

Hidden in the business law end of Melbourne CBD, Mr Mason is an amazing little place. I actually came here for an engagement party and loved the whole vibe and feel of the place, I am hoping to go back again soon as the bar list and food looked awesome. The catering we had on the day was fantastic!

Great addition to the lunch and after work drinks scene near the corner of King St and Little Collins St in the Melbourne CBD.

Their lunch menu is ridiculously good value. I had the Mussels, which came in a rich and buttery white wine sauce, and my colleagues had the Beef Cheek pie. Both were delicious and came with a wine, beer or sparkling for $20.

The staff seemed a bit run off their feet, but they were still attentive and friendly when they got around to us and we were in and out in well under an hour.

Worth a revisit :)
