We cannot speak highly enough of Michael and his team at the Cumberland Hotel! Michael went above and beyond to ensure that our Engagement Party was perfect! The location, the service, the prices and atmosphere was incredible! We would highly recommend the Cumby Beer Garden for your next function! Thank you again Michael!

As far as pub locations in the CBD go, the Cumby (or Cumberland Arms Hotel) is a great destination for lunch, drinks or dinner.
I have frequented here the past few weeks on a Friday for a burger and a beer ($20 special as at July 2016) and I've tried both the Cumby burger and the chicken burger. Both solid choices but the Cumby burger is the winner IMO.
There are occasional beer specials on tap, and the service is great - quick, and always friendly, even when they're under the pump.
There's a lot of history in this old building, but the current legend owners have given it a proper

It seems like a lot of the pubs are now truncating their names to make them sound more hip and happening, which is probably why the Cumberland Arms is now known as The Cumby. Mind you, it is probably not so much the pub, but the patrons, that end up giving the pub a new name, but I digress. I've been here a couple of times and I must say it is okay - I've certainly been to better places with a lot more character. Once again it is one of those pubs that I have known about but rarely visited (which may have been a good thing). However I do like the place, especially the beer garden down

I liked the beer garden here, so can't comment on the inside with much authority. The gins are generous, the beers are bountiful, the wine list is... well, winey. The chips were delicious, the cheese board was tasty, and the burgers got rave reviews from my friends. The vibe was alright - pretty stock-standard for a Friday evening in the city.
All in all a positive, albeit "meh" experience. I'd go back.

The Cumby has been around for a long time.
I went there with a group of friends for a nice cheap Dinner.
They great thing about The Cumby is the 10 for $10, Ten choices of meals for $10.00 a great deal.
The bad thing was the noise level. On a Friday Night, the place is quite busy and very loud.
The $10.00 Porterhouse Steak I had was cooked well, the sauce and sides also nicely done.

Five stars for sure! My friends and I have been meeting here weekly since October 2010 and love this place. Great staff, good food and nice venue for both summer and winter. We often have birthdays and other celebrations there and the staff are more than helpful with cakes and providing the right space for us. If you like a good pub you will love the Cumby!

Nice place for a group to chill before a night on the town, although a bit out the way of the main night-life. I kind of like how far removed it is from the busy areas.
I've been here for a 21st birthday, looked like they got a good deal and the drinks were on the cheap.
Outdoor area is nice, good place to sit and chat.

I like the Cumby. I like the trendy young uns. I like the small beer garden (even if it does see you pressed up against the wall as every man and his dog takes the opportunity to 'squeeze' past you). I like that it's darker inside than any pub around. Most of all I like that last time I was there with a group the security guard only asked me for ID (which is totally unecessary and may in fact suggest a brain injury on his part. But I still liked it). In a nutshell - a good ego boost!

The Cumberland, in times past was a very grungy venue, which subsequently recieved a facelift and now appeals to a much trendier up market crowd.
The revival in popularily of the Cumberland was achieved through the phenomenon of $1 vodka cruisers, a fad which has now unfortunately now died but has been replaced with a two for one vodka deal from 9-midnight, monday to friday.
The beer garden at the Cumby is quite good, long and skinny, effectively a gated off driveway, which has a bit of a house party feel.
The front bar is generally packed on weekends and is a bit seedy. The music is all
