Our Head Chef has crafted a brilliantly unique seasonal menu, with ingredients sourced from the Adelaide Central Markets and all over South Australia. From shared plates and snacks to pub grub classics with a twist, the West Oak should have you covered for most occasions. Whether it's a lunch with your colleagues, dinner with your parents or a late-night snack with your mates - head over to the Westy and see what's new.
Established in 1838, the Royal Oak Hotel was once the beating heart of Adelaide's west end. It has lived through more than 175 years and several incarnations to survive as one of the city's oldest continual licensed venues. Even today, if you look closely under the verandah, you can find a mark from the original telegraph poles in this photo.

Services
The talented Krish Dutt, previously head chef of Madame Hanoi and former private chef for the Jordanian royal family, has recently taken control of the West Oak's kitchen. It's not just our food that you'll feel rejuvenated by either. Our beer selection is off the tap, featuring Coopers, Carlton Draught and Mismatch.
The West Oak Hotel is a beautiful two-story building established in 1838, being one of the city's oldest continually licensed venues. The venue can cater for bookings of 10 - 200 people, with a charming plant-filled beer garden, pool room and cafe, downstairs and a fully rejuvenated function room, complete with a private bar and balcony, upstairs.
At the old RAH, the doctors had their own private bar to wind down and debrief after gruelling shifts and all kinds of amazing work. Named after a legendary member of the medical community, Mark Jolly, it had been open since 1974. Now with the hospital having moved to the west of the CBD, we've been working with medical staff to carry the tradition forward and both create and maintain the excellence of our Jolly Bar.

Hi, I will update for you then.
When I was here, there was a single person working, trying to manage taking both food orders and drink orders.
Which lead to a huge wait time, people queued trying to order.
Eventually, another staff member showed up and started helping out.
However we waited about 15 minutes to just be able to order drinks.

Please, for non adelaideans sake, change the numbers on your verandah to C1838, as i gave uber the address of 38 Hindley St, thinking the number on your verandah was the address, like most buildings have along cbd streets
wasn't until i looked around the corner & saw the tin flap sign on the pavement that i realised "48" meant date... & i was standing at 117 hindley st 😡😡
so i had to run (after just coming out of hospital for irregular heartbeats & dizziness) all the way upto the given address to uber 😭😡

I booked a table here for a mates birthday super super late notice, and these legends more than delivered. Absolutely went above and beyond.
The food is fantastic. The beverage menu has just enough variety to satisfy everyone and the drinks specials are unreal. Will 100% be back. Gem of a find.
ALSO! If you are a Reuben Sandwich fan, the WOH version is pretty damn legit.

I went to order a $9 glass of red from the wine menu and was offered the same wine style as their current 'special', so ordered this instead. Turned out to cost $12 a glass. Not a fan of this deceptive approach to upselling. Another point-loser was the tasteless, over-wet and over-priced tuna salad. Friend's beef burger was an unpleasantly surprising corned beef. Female bartender was genuinely friendly. Nicely renovated venue....but won't be rushing back there.
