First time and took a group pf teens, food came out superfast thought staggered, was ok and thought a great new place to go... however ordered dessert and waited 30 minutes and managed to grab a floor staff who said sorry its one minute away and then 10 minutes later still nothing by then everyone had had enough and no-one could still explain what was going on, waste of time and disappointing, its not hard guys and no one needs their Saturdays nights wasted sitting around for nothing

Look let me make this clear. This isn’t necessarily a bad restaurant. Sure the parma is $27, a bit steep for some crumbed chicken, ham, sauce and cheese. $26 for a Caesar salad with chicken. You get the idea.
Also the 30c-ish surcharge for any non-cash purchase is a bit how-ya-going. We live in a post-covid cashless society. Aren’t we past this yet?
Anyway half our table’s food came out, followed by the other half of the table’s a solid 30mins later.
None of these are particularly bad on their own. But put it all together and you know you’ve got the 2-star review

My first time in this lovely old building - unfortunately going to be the last one, - as I was very disappointed with the quality of food. Could never imagine how is possible to ruin “pan-seared barramundi”- but they managed:( as well as accompanying salsa (it was on special board “menu of the day”- so we presumed that would be the freshest choice- we were very wrong.)
I didn’t give 2 stars only because the waiters were lovely and did their best, and bar selection was reasonable.

Glenferrie Hotel is a great place to come for a solid meal and a cheap drink. From the moment you walk inside you know you're in a classic Aussie pub. Beautiful interior, spacious outdoor beer garden and plenty of seating available- I believe it is also a hotel!
Order your food from the bar, grab your number and enjoy the surroundings. I was especially fond of the Fish Tacos I had. Relatively fresh and really flavourful. Added bonus? Free wifi!

Always a great place to visit with plenty of bar tables, tables and chairs and areas where you can have some privacy. The waiting staff here are excellent and today I had matricana which was delicious and at $14 for lunch - very nice.
Located near the corner of Glenferrie Road in Hawthorn, there is good parking around the area although on a warm summer's night this place gets very busy. It's quite nice to sit out the front and soak up all that Hawthorn has to offer.
Will always return for a good meal and great atmosphere.

Decor saves this place, I just hope meals improve over the nachos I just had! Very bland, hardly any sour cream or guacamole and really just like a pack of corn chips a dab of cheese in a microwave. Really a big let down what looked like a pub that had it all great ambience, bar area and football on ample TV'S! Improve the nachos and I may be back! To top it off no orange juice as 'we have no orange juice left'......

Okay, the first pub, if one could call it a pub, that I went into felt more like a rather classy, or a not quite so classy, bar, however this one simply came across as your typical suburban pub. Actually, I probably shouldn't give it that much of a criticism because from what I could remember there wasn't any pokie machines, however there didn't seem to be anything all that fancy about it otherwise. In fact it felt more like a restaurant than a pub, though I was allowed to come in here, order a beer, and make myself comfortable, with isn't a bad thing. However, it isn't

Pub, most of us like them. This one is A OK. They have a great beer garden which is wonderful for those days that you want to sit outside. The beer garden can adapt to the temperamental mistress that is Melbourne. Cold, that's ok - they will shut the roof and turn on the heaters. Hot - open the roof up and enjoy the sunshine.
They have the standard pub fare, but the thing that I think could be great about the Glenferrie - is their willingness to entertain another football code other than AFL. I know it's the Glenferrie, in Hawthorn heartland, but they are wasting a wonderful opportunity

While I prefer Nevermind Bar, I have to admit that the Glenferrie Hotel is a pretty nice venue and isn't nearly as average as other venues along this strip.
The Glenferrie has made a decent compromise between the old grandeur of the building and space and the need for a young crowd to reinvigorate the place. It looks old, but more often than not you'll find a youngish crowd here and the overall effect is a nice location with a fun atmosphere.
Apart from drinks and cheer the Glenferrie Hotel also offers accommodation, an outdoor drinking area, food and a decent array of beer and cider
