According to ancient Vietnamese legends, the Heaven Gods sent to earth a family of dragons to help defend their land against foreign invaders. This family of dragons descended upon what is now known as Ha Long Bay & began spitting out jade & other precious stones to drive out the invaders. As these jewels fell into the sea, the turned into islands & islets surrounding the land.

Fantastic food and vintage environment. The duck was soooo impressed! It’s boneless and replaced by Meat, mushrooms, water chestnuts and other ingredients Steamed before frying. The impact of the complex process on the palate is also striking. The rice roll is excellent as well. Brand new taste! Definitely 10 out of 10!

Try the eggplant and bean stir fry. This one is with garlic, chilli and basil. Tasty and fresh. Eggplant is always great in a dish, especially the fish fragrant eggplant from Szechuan. And try the gong cha (red tea) if it’s available. Goes a treat with this lunch dish. (From my last visit: I’ve missed this honest restaurant in Wollongong’s east end. A hot fresh vegetable dish with loads of flavour, a good hit of garlic and crunchy cashews. And you get the firm tofu, not the deep fried variety. A little delight for lunch.) and it’s still a delight, especially on the balcony overlooking crown

Walked in on the off chance on a very busy Saturday night with most restaurants in the area turning people away people without bookings and was welcomed here, just a short wait and were found a table for the two of us. Veg spring roll entree was excellent and chicken lemongrass chilli stir fry really tasty with just a little kick. Restaurant is up steps from the street, and looks basic with plastic chairs, but food is tasty, quick and hot.

Ordered delivery, turned up over an hour late, we had already cooked our own food as the phone number for the restaurant would only go to voicemail (we tried many many times). We had assumed that we weren't getting any. When the food did eventually arrive it was stone cold and we had to reheat it in the microwave. The food was also super greasy. The poor delivery guy had no idea and seemed surprised that the food was over an hour late.

Fantastic lunch at Ha Long Bay.
First time I have been to the restaurant, after hearing lots of good things from many friends.
I got the combination soup with added wontons and it was beautiful, something I would go for at a Chinese restaurant but was glad to see it here.
Dim sims were a great entree and the service was awesome.

We haven't been to this restaurant since it moved locations, and I think the move might be affecting their patron numbers. Our waitperson was very efficient, and the front of house including the bathrooms were tidy and clean. We enjoyed our entrees and mains and they allow byo beer and wine, which is great. Only $1.50 p.p. corkage. Two minor criticisms, the mains came out whilst we were eating our entrees, and their timing was a bit off getting the meals out together.
